Title: Easy pass, or too nitty? Post by: Claw75 on April 19, 2009, 10:29:46 AM playing a laydeeees only game yesterday, and it's become a bit of a crapshoot. 48 remain from 85 starters and average stack is 10k with blinds at 400/800 (no ante). I've just been moved to my fourth table, played a couple of rounds, but not really enough to get a feel for the dynamics. Passed round to my button and I raise to 2k from my average stack with 9c 9d. SB passes and BB with 50k declares 'all in'. I debated for a while, and eventually passed, but can't help thinking that it should have been a call with the structure of the tournament.
I'm also thinking now that I should have shoved pre, as, after passing to the raise, I'd be leaving myself with a push or fold stack once the blinds went up anyhow. ?? Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty? Post by: George2Loose on April 19, 2009, 10:42:18 AM Ladies only? She obv had aces.
BTW very brave of you to open the button with a 9 and a 9. Don't women usually limp in this spot? ;hide; Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty? Post by: MANTIS01 on April 19, 2009, 11:39:58 AM You have 12bb's in a crap shoot game and pick up 9-9 on the button in an unopened pot. Isn't this a dream scenario? Standard raise here knowing you will snap the jam....actually hoping for the jam imo. With a 12bb average the blinds really don't need 10's+ to jam a crap shoot button raise here. This is clear hand in the air time. Nitting up in a crap shoot makes no sense babe.

Post by: Autobetkev on April 19, 2009, 11:55:17 AM Nitting up in a crap shoot makes no sense babe. I this thread shouldn't it be spelt 'knitting'. I'll have a scarf please..... BTW...snap call. Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty? Post by: Longy on April 19, 2009, 11:59:12 AM Just don't fold, open shoving the button is +ev. Opening to 2k and snap calling the shove is probably better.
Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty? Post by: MANTIS01 on April 19, 2009, 12:12:11 PM Standard raise is much better than shove. More than half the field still remain and open pushing an average stack is a serious consideration. This tells us we need lots more chips right now. Tempting the blinds to release the steam by pushing a wide range and giving us a full double up is a chance we really wanna take right now. A 25k stack gets us bossing the table...another 1.2k gets us what? Important point is don't raise here without knowing you snap or you may as well open fold.

Sorry not meaning to hijack the thread Clare Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty? Sorry not meaning to hijack the thread Clare They probably do. I don't think all blokes are intimidating but some can be. Some women obv can be too but from what I've seen (and I may be wrong) but women only tourneys seem to be held in more friendly/relaxed atmos. Any women on here can obv prove me wrong! Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty? Post by: Claw75 on April 19, 2009, 04:32:37 PM women only tourneys seem to be held in more friendly/relaxed atmos. would have to disagree with this actually George - some woman shouted at me yesterday for touching her chips when I was buying them up before the chip race 'what the f*** are you doing' and the bitching behind peoples backs during the breaks was horrendous! You'll often find at these events that a lot of women who are used to being one of only one or two in a field of men suddenly think that they must be way better than the rest of the field because it's women only (probably because the guys they've played with have told them they'll have a huge edge on the field, because they can play a bit). I've not played a women's tournament for a bit and don't think I'll be in a hurry to play another one anytime soon. If I were giving advice to your wife, I'd say a low buy in regula comp at a friendly casino would be much more welcoming. Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty? Do you think she was in a hurry to get back to make her husband's dinner or something? ::) Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty? A single woman can scratch another's eyes out for wearing a similar dress to a party. 10 hyped-up birds all sitting around the same table....friendly and relaxed?? Shit no!!

Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty? Post by: gatso on April 19, 2009, 04:47:22 PM these games might encourage women into the live arena but possibly only once as they'll go home thinking live play = shit structure
they were like that when they started, they've been criticised a lot, they're still like that. can't see it changing Title: Re: Easy pass, or too nitty?
