Do you ever go to DTD? Title: Re: Poker Books for sale Post by: tikay on April 21, 2009, 01:41:33 PM I'll make you an offer for whatever is not quickly sold Simon. They are very useful as Prizes, giveaways, that sort of thing. I have a ton of these books just gathering dust (not literally) in my basement, you can have them if you want Tikay, will you be at the GUKPT on Sunday? I'm not sure if I am going yet (stag do the night before) but if I do I will bring them along, failing that I'll do it next time at DTD. Thank you very much Barry. Yes, I'll be at the GUKPT on Sunday, with In-Poker. I go to a lot of Events where donating a book counts for a lot, or auctioning them for Charity, or as Prizes in Charity Raffles, so it'd be much apprreciated. I'm doing a Charity Evening at a Golf Club in Wimbledon next month, in aid of a Cancer victim, & I reckon I could maybe raise a good few hundred quid if I had a few books to give away. At a recent TWPC Event in Hove, a few books & some Sky Poker apparel raised three hundred quid for Charity. I had over a hundred poker books of my own, gathering dust, & denying good bookcase space to my Bridges & Tractors Book Collection, but I've given most of them away now. Thank you. Cliff Notes: Raise every hand i.i.r.c. he started off giving an admirable exhibition of how to piss half your stack away to begin with without actually getting to showdown. Then he got a table move and donked it into every preflop raiser until he looked up and found himself at the final. Nice system. I think there might even be a signed David Sklansky in there, which I no longer want, as he turned out to a bit of a weirdo. They'll be put to good use. I assume neither of you learned much from them? ;) Lol. I still advocate reading them. I would as I am selling them I suppose. They have a role for getting new players up and running. whilst I accept yours and Camels POV on more experienced players working it out for themselves, most books have content in that is worth the cover price. It might be a concept that you hadn't thought about before. It might be a thought that saves you a pot sized bet on the river or take a stab at a pot that you might have otherwise overlooked. It might be plain bollocks and downright wrong, but the important thing is to realise that although it doesn't sit well with your playing style, it is a thought/action that might be present at the table from others that read the same book or just happen to think the same way.
