Ancient Chinese artists would never paint pictures of women's feet. Stonehenge is 1500 years older than Rome's Colosseum. If any of the heads on Mt. When they tell you a distance or volume and try to put that in perspective for you as if your tiny mind can't possibly comprehend what the quantity looks like. Instead they make it dafter by comparing it to something completely stupid. Example - Loch Morar is Britains deepest freshwater lake. It is over 310m deep, that's the same height as all of Rembrandts paintings laid one on top of the other. Title: Re: O/T Useless Trivia Facts..... Post by: AdamM on November 30, 2005, 02:17:32 PM lol

Indiana Jones - the original person cast for this role was infact Tom "magnum " Seleck and he pulled out due to other commitments. The initial funds that created the first apple computer came from selling a calculator and a van. Steve wozniac and stephen jobbs worked out of a garage until they had perfected the first practical home computer. Bill gates spent $7,000,000 on a garage for his cars. superted the cartoon was created by a bloke called Mike young. Count duckula first appeared on Dangermouse ( and he was not a vegiterian ) Joel shuster and jerry siegel who created superman put the S on his chest as a mark of their creation ( s from both theit last names ) no other reason!! ( they too sold their creation for buttons and had to fight to get some royalties, but they both lived in poverty for years after their creation was a success and made millions of dollars for other people. It was Hitlers idea to start Volkswagen!!!!!!, Probably the only good idea he had. thats it for the moment Title: Re: O/T Useless Trivia Facts..... Post by: Newmanseye on November 30, 2005, 04:06:04 PM Ok OK on the polar bear one, As I understand it, as explained by stephen fry on QI a polar bear had black skin with a double layer of fur, the top layer is translucent, and the bottom layer is not. The color white becomes visible to our eyes when an object reflects back all of the visible wavelengths of light, rather than absorbing some of the wavelengths.
At one time it was suggested that the polar bear hairs might have some of the properties of optical fibers. Apparently this is not the case. ok I hope this clears things up. Post by: ifm on November 30, 2005, 04:47:43 PM American colonies actually declared their independence from the British empire on July 2, 1776. However, this declaration was not approved until July 4, 1776. Only two founding fathers signed the declaration that day: John Hancock and Charles Thomson. John Adams wrote, "The 2nd of July will be a memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival."
The names of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were withheld from the public until 1777, because their treasonable act would result in death if the Revolution were unsuccessful. Nonetheless, five signers were captured by the British and brutally tortured as traitors. Nine fought in the War for Independence and died from wounds or from hardships they suffered. Two lost their sons in the Continental Army. Another two had sons captured, and the British pillaged and burned the homes of at least a dozen of the fifty-six signers.
