Title: the Play offs Post by: TightEnd on May 03, 2009, 06:23:28 PM Haven't looked at the prices yet
Some initial thoughts Sheff U v Preston Reading v Burnley I fancy Burnley, good cup pedigree recently so thats good for these pressure one-off type games. Reading have been in poor form for ages, have Coppell uncetainty and will be disappointed not to go straight up. Sheff U likely to be favourites but fancy Burnley at what I hope be a good price MK Dons v Scunthorpe Millwall v Leeds Fancy Leeds over Millwall..defensively strong now and lots of goalscoring options. Likely to be tight. Scunthorpe are a footballing side, have an inkling form then over Franchise Scunthorpe v Leeds. Will be going for Scunny as the underdog at a price. Scunthorpe for me at this stage Bury v Shrewsbury Gillingham v Rochdale Shrewsbury got a top goalscorer in that level in Grant Holt and the best home record of the four teams. looking for a decent price to back them here. Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: TightEnd on May 03, 2009, 06:26:17 PM Prices, best available
Sheff Utd 12/5 Boylesports Reading 5/2 888sport Burnley 3 Sky Bet Preston 7/2 Stan James Back Burnley, Lay Reading Leeds 2 Victor Chandler MK Dons 13/5 Betfred Millwall 10/3 William Hill Scunthorpe 9/2 Sky Bet Leeds are too skinny. Scunthorpe are value to me. Bury 5/2 Betfred Gillingham 11/4 Victor Chandler Shrewsbury 3 Stan James Rochdale 3 Boylesports As the betting suggests, an even heap. I will be partaking of 3x Singles, 3 x doubles and a treble to scoop some dosh. Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: Yorky on May 03, 2009, 07:57:07 PM I am a York fan but i think Leeds are a good bet @ 2/1, theyr a class above since new gaffer has come in at xmas.
Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: TightEnd on May 03, 2009, 08:16:33 PM sure Grayson knows what he is doing, lot of time for him as a player (of course) and a boss
merely at 2/1, lowest odds of any of the 12 teams in the three divisional play offs, I feel its priced in. Hence looking for value Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: redsimon on May 03, 2009, 08:22:12 PM Prices, best available Sheff Utd 12/5 Boylesports Reading 5/2 888sport Burnley 3 Sky Bet Preston 7/2 Stan James Back Burnley, Lay Reading Leeds 2 Victor Chandler MK Dons 13/5 Betfred Millwall 10/3 William (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=960) Hill (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=960) Scunthorpe 9/2 Sky Bet Leeds are too skinny. Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: TightEnd on May 04, 2009, 02:45:50 PM I think its looking strong anyway, much stronger than this season
3 of Leeds/Millwall/ Dons/Scunthorpe still in it, all decent footballing teams Soton/Norwich/Charlton will be competitive Huddersfield look strong, Tranmere there or there abouts, Colchester are much improved under Lambert Wycombe, Brentford and Exeter won't be pushovers this year had Cheltenham and Hereford who were in no position to compete and underresourced teams like Crewe For Leeds and the rest in these play offs, its the year to get up. Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: Matt50 on May 05, 2009, 10:14:12 AM Sheff Utd, MK Dons and Gillingham for me.
Doubles and a treble Love every single game of the play-offs - so much pressure on teams, so much riding on every game it generally produces exciting matches and great moments. With 3 weeks until the finals i really cant understand why 2 matches have to be played at the same time!!! 1 game a night for 12 nights in a row FTW Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: Acidmouse on May 05, 2009, 10:44:34 AM Going into the playoffs Leeds are the form team by a country mile. Only losing to the champions in the 93rd Min. Winning 8 from 10.
Scunthorpe had 3 games in hand at one point but only managed to win 2 from their last 8 games, hardly inspiring stuff. Millwall lost 4 from 7 but are strong at home still. The MK Dons have come good again and I fancy them to beat schunthorpe 1-0 both legs. Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: Matt50 on May 08, 2009, 09:24:58 AM Quite pleased with Gillingham's 0-0 draw away to Rochdale.
Now need Sheff Utd and MK Dons to do the business tonight. Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: Matt50 on May 10, 2009, 11:00:05 AM All 6 ties very evenly poised with no more than 1 goal in any of them.
All my 3 picks managed draws away from home so still hopeful of all 3 making the finals. Gillingham FTW today Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: rossfourfive on May 10, 2009, 02:51:03 PM Yaaaas come on the Shrew!

Very pleased that they are playing Shrewsbury as well, who despite going through are nowhere near as good as Bury. Over to Sheff Utd tonight - come on the blades. Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: Matt50 on May 12, 2009, 09:01:05 AM 2 out of 2 through - another cracking match last night - dont really mind who Sheff Utd play in the final.
JUst need MK Dons to beat Scunthorpe on Friday now to get all 3 through to the finals. Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: TheChipPrince on May 12, 2009, 12:22:45 PM I'll bok Reading for you Kev, I fancy them to go through at 11/8...

Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: Colchester Kev on May 12, 2009, 12:38:49 PM Moved to Burnley when the Mrs was preggers with No 1 son ... My mum had remarried and moved there a good few years earlier. Housing costs were prohibitive in Colchester, so we moved up there.
Both my boys were born in Burnley, and we lived there for 9 years. Title: Re: the Play offs Post by: Matt50 on May 12, 2009, 08:05:15 PM Nervous yet Kev? ;)
