Fat Frank first goal £5 @ 9/1

Ballack First goal £3 @ 16/1

Messi first goal 2-1 Barca £1 @ 45/1

Barca FTW

Chelsea are playing (praying)  for penalties

With all the Barca defensive problems..Puyol and Marquez out and Pique the only recognised CB....Together with all their attacking flair coupled with Chelsea having to come out a bit, rather than shut the game down

I fancy over 2.5 goals at Evens (under 2.5 is 8/11)

Terry at 20-1 1st goalscorer (setpieces)

and 3-2 Barca at 33-1

Decent bet on the goals, tiny speculative interest on the other

Surely they'll be a yellow card before the 28th minute @ evens??

3-2 Barc price changed, 28-1 sigh

Over 2.5 Goals (Under/Over 2.5 Goals) Chelsea v Barcelona      evens      £25.00
Barcelona 3-2 (Correct Score) Chelsea v Barcelona    28/1    £2.00
Terry, J. (1st Goalscorer) Chelsea v Barcelona    20/1    £1.00
Barcelona 3-2 & Terry, J. (Goalcast) Chelsea v Barcelona    750/1    £0.50

I will not be betting on this tonight - i will just be praying for Barca to get through.

Title: Re: Commies v the Catalans
Post by: Horneris on May 06, 2009, 04:29:36 PM
I think the Barca price is a massive overreaction to a hugely inept defensive performance from Real Madrid at the weekend. Yes, Barca were impressive, but theres no way players like Terry and Bosingwa will be anywhere near as easy to breach.

Barca also have defensive problems of their own, and you do not want these with players such as Drogba and Lampard running at you.

Barca 6/4
Chelsea 9/5

i know where my money is.

£200 Chelsea @ 9/5 in the 90 minutes (Stan James)

also tempted to dive in a little on Chelsea -1 @ 6/1 (Stan James & Willhill).

Agree with Horneris. Real showed how not to play against Barca. I think 2-0 Chelsea tonight.

freerolling after the Camel Bath horse

with the Barca defence I definitely see them conceding goals here. So will Messi and co get the better of Hiddink's defence? thats the issue to my mind

I fancy Chelsea to win this tonight as I think their approach in Barcelona may have won them the psychological battle. I would love to see football win but just have a feeling Chelsea will edge it.

ok dont usually but had a few bets:

20 quid on 2-2 at 20/1

fiver on terry firsy scorer 25/1

15 quid first goal between 11-20 mins 8/1

I dont know whether those prices are good or not- just looking for a bit of a gamble

If Chelsea dont make any mistakes then they will win this 2-0, and ill collect my Chelsea to win the match bet (as detailed on page 1) and my Name the Finalists: Chelsea v Scum bet (as shown in the Champions League thread).

Chelsgay should obv have had a penalty but they are so boring to watch, sitting with everyone behind the ball. Lets hope we get a good game in the final.

I don't think the Pique one was a penalty. Never deliberate handball. The ball hit his hand.

The second one was a clear pen, but the other 3 weren't imo.

LOL @ Chelsea claiming it was a fix.

If it was fixed why was Abidal sent off for not touching Anelka? If Drogba passes instead of being such a greedy fcker they would be in the cup final now.

The Chelsea feeling of entitlement is so pathetic. They deserve nothing, they play horrible football and whinge and moan when they lose.

The sooner Abramhovic goes skint the better for everyone.

Payback for Mike Read in 1997. What goes around comes around. wp ref.

What was this?

5. Chelsea 1-0 Leicester (FA Cup fifth round, 1997)

It was a bit unfair that, by the time Chelsea played their fifth-round FA Cup replay against Leicester, they were hot favourites for the tournament and therefore cast in the role of the big bad bullies. They hadn't, after all, won a trophy in 27 years. Still, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Aston Villa having all been knocked out early on, that's the way it just had to be for Ruud Gullit's side. So when a Homeric two-game tussle with Leicester - which was about to head for penalties, the least Martin O'Neill's side deserved - was jarringly ended when referee Mike Reed awarded Chelsea a penalty after Erland Johnsen went down under a non-existent challenge, the entire country (Chelsea fans apart, naturally) felt a searing sense of injustice.

That night, BBC Radio Five Live's Danny Baker spoke for the nation when he opined: "It was scandalous, an absolute scandal … football has a maggot at its golden core, and that maggot is referees … we've been at that game for two hours and the referee was bad all the way through it … what is the point of people running themselves to a standstill, what is the point supporters investing time money and emotion, what is the point in anyone investing millions in football when the whole thing rests on some erstwhile van driver from Folkestone who's probably had a row with his wife? If this was a boxing match and the referee turned round and gave the fight to the bloke who was knocked out on the floor we would say you can't do that … most of them need a good slap round the face … hacks should doorstep this man like he's a member of Oasis … that worm should be on the phone now, Radio Five should be knocking down that ref's dressing room and asking do you know on behalf of all referees how bad you are?"

Reed wouldn't be the only maggot chomping his way through Baker's delicious metaphor in that season's FA Cup, of course. In the semi-final, Jonathan Howard hammered a shot off the underside of the crossbar and behind the goal-line; it should have given Chesterfield an unassailable 3-1 lead against Middlesbrough, but somehow wasn't good enough for David Elleray. Chesterfield were thus denied becoming the first-ever third-tier team to feature in the final, a disgraceful decision indeed, though Howard loses Outrage Points for failing to send the net billowing and making it perfectly obvious even to an eejit like Elleray. Three yards out, Howard was, and he hit the bar.

John Terry has been quote as saying he feels Chelsea were robbed against Barcalona.

Marks & Spencers have said "Now he knows how we feel when his mum has been in store"

What’s the difference between David Blunkett and Chelsea?

At least David Blunkett knows how to hang onto a lead.

Watching Chelsea getting knocked out of Europe.
Now that really is the Drog's Ballacks!

Return flights to Barcelona - £600
Train to London - £50
Tickets for a two-legged semi-final in the Champions League - £120

Getting to see John Terry cry yet again live in person? Priceless.

Some things in life cost money, for everything else there's stoppage time.

I have just been on my sat nav to try and find Chelsea. Apparently its 2 mins from Rome.

Firstly - GTFI - Iniesta you beauty!!!!!!!!!!

Secondly - Henry should have had a pen first match, Messi should have had a pen last night, Abidal shouldnt have been sent off, Essien SHOULD have been sent off for raking his studs down Iniesta's calf
Oh, and Chelsea should have had 3 penalties, so all about even the way i see it.

Not something i normally do, but had to listen to talksport on the way to work this morning to listen to the Chelsea supporters still crying.  Some of them have very short memories and at the end of the day what goes around comes around.

Ballack should get at least a 3 game ban for trying to clothesline the ref and Drogba a minimum of 6 matches.  If we want our kids to grow up thinking this is acceptable behaviour then i really fear for the game in 10-15 years time.

And as for Drogba saying "f***ing disgrace" to the camera - just 3 words.  Pot..........................kettle........................black.

The best team won over 2 legs and hopefully it will be a cracking final.

Feel bad for Chelsea, wanted another all English team final. Does not matter what happens though their players need to be put in check for what they did during and after the game.

The ref was good compared to the Leeds one that got Banned http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975_European_Cup_Final (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975_European_Cup_Final) for life for cheating us out of the Euro final in 75. My Dad still goes an about that!

Penalties aren't like fouls that can add up to a yellow card. A few possible penalties don't add up to make a full one. It'll be interesting to see what ballack and drogba get.
