Title: Value bet missed?
Post by: R8APK on May 07, 2009, 08:25:28 PM
£100 FO.

7 players at table, 2nd level (50/100).

Cutoff - loose, often chases draws, happy to gamble - get a big chip stack or go out early.
BB - unknown.
Button (me!) - no real action, 1 raise and continuation bet during first level.

All three players about 7500.

Cutoff limps, I raise to 400 with  Ac Ahrt, SB passes, BB calls.

Flop  9d 3d Jc.

BB & Cutoff check, I bet 800, both call.

Turn  2s, checked to me again, I bet 2200, both call.

River  6s, checked to me again, I check.

BB shows  Js Kh, Cutoff mucks without showing(but saying had nut flush draw).

Thoughts on play and specifically did i miss a bet on river.

My rationale(for what its worth) that one player was likely to be on flush/straight draw but the other may have set or two pair (J9s?) and I was only getting called by hand beating me...but to be honest I perhaps should have realised that I would have got paid by the JK or JA to a small bet on river? but what if he then came over top of my small river bet? I couldnt call or could I?

Maybe a simple one, but interested in views....

i dont think two pair/set woulda check called the turn they woulda raised
the board is quite drawy

you said they love to chase draws how do they play when they hit?
i woulda done small  value bet and never fold.

If either villain raised all-in for 7.5k after you c-bet the flop you would be happy to call. This would be maximum value. If you were outflopped then ok. You've gotta think the 6 & 2 are really good cards for you because how could either oppo really be holding one? The combinations don't really add up to any likely hand. If we accept that we accept that our A-A is up against flopped hands or missed draws come the river. A minute ago we'd be prepared to go broke on the flop vs flopped hands...but not on the river? That's missed value imo.

Would your opponent check to you on the river if they had you beat?  Im not sure they would check call all the way here with anything.

I think you missed a bet of the river as KJ makes a crying call.

You can't see two better cards on turn or river.

Have to bet river, even if you gay bet.
