Title: Bad Move on flop?
Post by: marcin123 on May 13, 2009, 11:40:06 AM
Gala Leeds £15 Double Chance
Hero 6700 chips
Villain 1 6400 chips
Villain 2 7500 chips (Very lose player,,, Lost his first buy in reraising all in on a gutshot)

Blinds 150/300
Villain 1 limps in, Villain 2 raises to 900 total... I look down at  Jd Jc in the cut off... I decide to flat call... Bad play??? I couldn't think of a decent enough raise that didn't leave me pot committed... Villain 1 calls the raise as well leaving the pot just under 3000.

The flop comes down  9d 9s 4d...

Villain 1 leads out for 2000 chips and the original raiser just flat called... This confused me... Surely the raiser would reraise if he had a big hand like aces or kings... i put the original raiser on a hand like 77 or 88... So i decided to reraise all in... Both players called Villain 1 showing  6d 7d and Villain 2 showing Th 9h...
Obviously with me not reraising preflop cost me on this occassion but surely me flatting pre in this spot isn't a bad one overall??? and is my shove on the flop a bad one???

should probs be in PHA board.

I re-raise pre..2000 total...not too worried about him having aces/kings/queens so would snap a shove...especially since you say he's very loosy goosy. (Although his re-raising all in on a gutshot might not necessarily have been a bad move as that depends on the circumstances)
on the flop you're hardly ever ahead so I don't like the shove very much. there isn't a worse hand that calls you, surely?

Why such a small rr pre when in effect we would only have a pot sized bet left and there's gonna be a lot of ugly flops?

because I want No2 off..not No1...I want him to stay in the pot as I expect to be miles ahead of his range.

Come on Boldo. You really expect if No1 flats No2 is ever ever passing for 1100 more when he's put 900 in to a 5k pot in a £15 comp?

 ;gobsmacked;

with the action on the flop? villain1 bets out 2k (more than 1/3rd of his stack) and villain 2 (who raised pre) flats this also with 1/3rd of his stack? Surely not?

Well yes, after the action of course, but when the 3rd flop card is turned over I have a rock on taking the dealers eye out!!  :D
