I've never been a fan of limit, but I joined this SNG by mistake thinking it was a No Limit game. Thankfully I won the SNG, but I felt I was a little too tight in places. Saying that, I did fear playing the aggro donk with marginal holdings especially as he has odds to continue to showdown with virtually anything.
I felt it was more important to wait for the right moment. The hand below, I wasn't comfortable with how I played this at all. Could you look through the hand, and my thoughts during play, and determine what my best course of action is at each phase please? What would you do on the river? ***************************************************** $1 6-max Limit Hold'em SNG - 100/200 All stacks approximate:- SB: $2,100 (Not played badly at all - definate TAG) BB (Hero): $2,500 (I've been a little too solid, but followed math as best as I can - TAG) UTG: $1,750 (Aggro donk - he had $4,000+ after the first ten minutes of play and was down to $1,900 a level later) LP: $1,000 (Loose passive) Button: $1,350 (Loose and seemed to have disconnection problems too) Hero (BB) is dealt Ad Ks UTG folds LP calls $100 Button calls $100 SB folds BB (Hero) checks My thinking here is that I am going to be out of position for the entire hand, and with this being a low limit SNG I fear of betting with relative air. Flop - Qs 4h 5s Hero checks, LP checks, Button checks With my pre-flop thoughts I think checking is the best play Turn - 6c Hero checks, LP checks, Button checks Betting here doesn't make any sense, think I would get called most of the time by somebody in this spot. If I raised, I predict that I would've got called and not 3-betted by the 2 others in the pot. So say the pot is 650, and flop is queen high. We bet and get called. That means 950 in the pot and all we have is ace high. I was conscious that this would look/feel very spewy. I presume I should be raising/capping etc so when we hit the Ace or king we reap the profits?
