Title: UFC 98
Post by: byronkincaid on May 22, 2009, 08:44:22 PM
I've put my loose change on Machida, Sherk, Nover and Hughes.

Free money right?

Totally agree on Machida, Sherk and Nover, But I think the Matt v Matt fight will be close, Serra is shite who got lucky once, but hughes is way way passed it!

For this reason im on Serra for the Value

i watched a  couple of serra's vlog things on utube and he's prancing about getting his hair cut and chatting to his mates. Hughes is meant to be keeping up with sherk in their cardio training. I think they're prob both past it tbf, but hughes was obv the far better fighter and I think he will take what is his last ever fight a lot more seriously.

i won't be unhappy if serra wins he seems like a nice guy and hughes is a knob

I actually think Serra is a wank, purely cos he is from New York and smug as fuck during TUF when he was a coach

I soooooo hope Matt Serra KO's or Subs Matt Hughes, even though Serra can be mouthy n bitchy he's about big of a cock Matt Hughes is.

Pretty funny summary of Matt Hughes book: http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f2/summary-matt-hughes-book-made-america-965216/

I dunno how you can say Machida vs. Evans is free money though, Lyoto is my fave fighter in the UFC along with GSP, but Rashad Evans is no joke at all. He's really athletic, he's got great technique and his trainer Greg Jackson is like the best in the biz at training / gameplans.

Just look at his stable of fighters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackson%27s_Submission_Fighting

I had Rashad for beating Chuck and Forrest, I just don't know whats gonna happen in this fight.

The Weigh ins are live now at: http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=eventdetail.home&eid=480

Not sure how many people know this, but not only is Lyoto undefeated in the UFC (6 fights), but he has also never even lost a ROUND in the UFC (and 4 out of his 6 UFC fights went the 3 round distance, including Tito Ortiz' fight)

To never even lose a round means his game plan/strength/work rate is second to none IMO, he never lets up.....

This is why its easy money IMHO of course.

I think everyone who watched countdown to UFC 98 knows that lol.

Rashad is undefeated also don't forget, Machida has also never fought anyone who can put together a really good gameplan.

But I'm not even arguing that Machida isn't the favourite or I don't think he's going to win, but saying the undefeated champion and no.1 Lightheavyweight in the world who has KO'd 2 previos champions and comes from the no. 1 MMA camp in the world is free money is ridiculous, infact anyone who has watched a lot of MMA knows anything can happen, especially with someone as powerful and explosive as Rashad Evans, on top of he Greg Jackson gameplan.

Your opinion is wrong sir.

lol i haven't seen the countdown mate, so wasn't aware they mentioned it, i simply remember reading it a few weeks back on MMAweekly.com

as for my opinion being wrong, how can it be, when its an opinion? opinions belong to the person, there is no right or wrong lol

....what you meant to type i suppose was "In my opinion, your opinion is unlikely of happening" lol

I know it's insane....I didn't think opinions could be wrong either! infact I think a lot of people thought that too.

But you sir have proved us all wrong sir    ;D

Machida is a super hero, I don't think anyone can beat him atm, maybe if fedor cut to 205 or something...

benji, I am just a casual fan and it's good to have some mma discussion here, but you seem to have missed the ? in my post :)

Well you thought it was free money but asked in anyone else agreed and Scottish_Dave did, and I disagreed :) thats all.

I agree though Machida is a total god, I just know how good Rashad is also....and how crazy MMA can be!

And why would Fedor cut to 205 (even though he could) when he can quit happily walk around at 225lbs. beating people 50lbs. heavier :)

But I would love to see Fedor in the UFC.

unfortunately it doesn't look like it'll ever happen but say Fedor did join the UFC, he starts by pwning lesnar and then what? What interesting HW fights are left? If he cut to 205 then he could fight machida and the spider which would be very interesting.

Oh I agree fights with A. Silva and Machida would be the most exciting prospect, but fights vs. Brock and Shane Carwin would be good also, we still don't know how good Brock could be. But atm he's obviously still quite a way from being near Fedor's level.

I hope UFC signs Arlovski again too.

Obviously Machida was awesome but so sick that Serra doesn't get that take down in last round with a minute to go cos then he wins fight. Sonnen won by UD. Sigh.

I gotta say as big of a dick as Hughes has been in the past, he was pretty humble in victory on the night, I don't hate him that much anymore.

Mainevent was awesome. :)

Oh and Frankie Edgar looked really good too, I thought Sherk was just gonna outmuscle him like Gray Maynard did. 4/11 for me
