Title: £1/£1 Pot Limit Holdem Post by: FuglyBaz on May 31, 2009, 11:19:35 AM Both £1 blinds were posted, a £2 straddle and I re-straddled to £4. Was so so happy to see Td Tc. A few people called the straddle so when it came back round to me there was £23 in the pot. I bet pot and only the button called. (Pot size £69)
Flop came Ts 9c 2h. I made a continuation bet because I didn't want to give away a free card even with the best possible hand. I was new to the table so didn't have any reads etc. First question - if I am to bet how much should I be betting? I bet £25 which I think may be slightly small. But I thought IF he had some kind of straighting hand then he's still paying over the odds to make it. Pot size £119 Turn was Kd. Here I bet £55 and took the pot down. Is this a good sized bet? It seems too strong, but I thought that if he was interested on flop he may well continue. He had about £90 left in his stack at this point. Looks like villian is playing approx £140 and hero has him covered before the start of the hand Title: Re: £1/£1 Pot Limit Holdem Post by: The Camel on May 31, 2009, 12:40:43 PM Both £1 blinds were posted, a £2 straddle and I re-straddled to £4. In all honesty mate I had no reason for doing a super straddle other than that I knew if I get a decent hand then I can get somebody to come along for the ride with me. My experience from the cash game I was in when I used to plkay 9 months ago, was that nobody would ever raise a straddled pot, so I knew regardless of what happens I can get a look at the flop, more often than not. Whether straddles are good or not is another point - it is probably a waste of time in long run because you don't get good enough hands to make it worthwhile. Normally I would only ever straddle if I was up a lot in chips, but here I was £20 down on my starting stack of £150. I left the table soon after this hand because I felt I'd played it badly, and I was worried that it might affect my future play. Regarding checking turn the betting £90 on river - isn't giving free cards in a low limit brick n mortar cash game a cardinal sin? Title: Re: £1/£1 Pot Limit Holdem Post by: Cf on May 31, 2009, 03:40:11 PM I'd probably check the turn as well. King is a scary card for the villian, who is a live player, so no doubt "put you on ace king".
Nothing wrong with betting though, you played it fine. Title: Re: £1/£1 Pot Limit Holdem Post by: UpTheMariners on June 01, 2009, 01:32:21 AM bet £40 on flop, check turn, shove river if villian doesnt cooperate.
