Title: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: Colchester Kev on May 26, 2005, 03:13:41 PM
Just wondering who is going to vegas for the WSOP this year.
and Tikay are you gonna get blondepoker.com to spend some of their sponsorship money on some nice pin badges or some such that we can wear while over there ?
or how about a blondite meal or night out while we are over there, would be good fun i reckon, what does everyone think ?

blondeites in Vegas? Good question, I will try & find out the full list, but there will be plenty of us!

Dave Colclough - obviously - Julian, Chubby Nowab, Smokin Steve, Xuyen Bad Girl Pham, Burnley John, Rob Yong, Nik Whiten, Isabelle Mercier, Carlo Citrone, Luca Pagano, Simon Aces Trumper, Ash Pervaiz, Ben Grundy, are all confirmed. Who have I missed?

I was originally scheduled to go out on the 3rd July, & may still do, but I am getting pressure to go a few days earlier - something about a "seniors Comp", grr.......

Live Updates on the biggie? You bet!

Badges from sponsorship money - what sponsorship money??!! Find me a sponsor, & I'll get you a badge!

But a blondeites meal or get-together is a great idea - the bill's on tikay, come on down!

Gryko is one that i can think of but i am sure there may be more of us. Has Ariston qualified yet? he'll probably be another....

You have to be a member of the blonde Forum - a very exclusive club!

So that's another one I forgot - but if you are in Vegas, then you are in the team!

OK, so we add Royal Flush, Ariston (who he?), Womble, Stuart Fox, & The Dreaded Gryko to the blondeites in Vegas Crew.

I rather like that name - "The Dreaded Gryko", or TDG as we shall call him. Martin Farragher called him much worse in Vienna after TDG RR'd Martin's AQ with J-5 & 4 flushed it for a monster pot. TDG never even looked suitably embarrassed.

Ruru is in, 26th June to 17th July  ;D I hear there's a great karting track in Vegas...

Angie and I will be there for the last week of WSOP at least - returning 21/07/205.

Terrific, that's 3 more, Davey, Angie & Ruru. This meal bill is reaching awesome proportions.... Plus I fully expect Davey to bring his collecting hat - we ought to be able to manage a few bob for P4C while we are all feasting & frollocking in Sin City.

Karting? Count me in!

Bloody coach more like. But amazing how, in 4 short months, the blonde Forum has attracted so many "names". Goiod, 'innit?

Title: Karting
Post by: elblondie on May 27, 2005, 02:29:23 PM
Ok This is a must. A Blondepoker Karting Day... well couple of hours anyway
Who's up for it ?
Rhowena and I are definates

we tried it last year...paul maxfield was such a girlie, he gave up after 2 laps

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: tikay on May 27, 2005, 02:36:17 PM
Don't you think you are a bit old for Karting Mr Colclough?

This is getting INTERESTING......

All those interested, let us know, & Ruru can organise it. Cost will be whatever it costs, plus 10 each to go to P4C.

By the way, I have trophies for Karting. Keep them in the same Trophy Cabinet as my Poker Trophies.

BE AFRAID

And let me tell you all one other thing. Rhowena Karting........ I mean no disrespect, but I was once - just the once - a pasenger in a car driven by Rhowena, from East London to Luton. Never - NEVER - in my entire life, have I been so frightened. I had to keep my eyes shut, feigning sleep, the whole way. It was too awful for words. She is truly - & I mean this in the nicest possible way THE WORLDS WORST DRIVER. God help anyone on the Karting track who gets in HER way. But I'll be OK, I shall be out in front.....

Ruro???? grrrrrrrrrr!

hehe I've got two karting days now - I can use the Betfair Poker race as a warm up for this one  ;D TheDoc will tell you that I'm a very aggressive driver - poor chap was so scared of me that he refused to race the second session in Melbourne!!!

Tikay,

We have not meet yet but I have heard alot about you from Mr. Dave. This is Brian from the USA, did Mr. Dave tell you how I got lucky and knocked him out at the Plaza event a month or so ago. Well its not as far for me so I will be there on May 31st, playing all limit and nolimit in the WSOP, will be there for 6 weeks or so. After that I will be coming to see everyone over there to play in the WPT in Paris and then onto London for something that lasts a week??

Good luck to all ;D

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: tikay on May 28, 2005, 05:04:35 AM

Mr Dave told you all about me? I hope not!

Maybe we can meet either at the WSOP, or in Paris. I hope so.

Take care.

Where is everyone staying in vegas ?
we have booked flights, but not accommodation as yet.

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: ariston on May 30, 2005, 07:27:38 PM
Will be there and will certainly be on the karting track. I will need to know what constitues a black flag before we go on the track as I spent 5 years stock/banger racing in my early 20s (can you remember your early 20s Tikay?). I think the winner will probably be ben or isa as there combined weight is probably half of most of the field (or a 3rd of my weight).

Pretty sure I will be there playing or not. Just waiting on final details of deal to go out and cover the main event.

For any forumite who hasnt already gotten a seat there are still plenty up for grabs on betfair. Having won 4 seats from 8 tries on betfair it should show you the standard isnt world class. If I can win seats on there I am sure a lot of you can join me in Vegas  ;)

Ariston, how much do you get if you win a second seat for the wsop main event,

if you already have one ?

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: ariston on May 30, 2005, 09:54:09 PM
Not sure about that one. The player who won 2 seats to new orleans got the 2k expenses cash and the 10k buyin. They do not give you your money back for the flights and hotel they are saving but 12k would still be nice obviously.

What about golf, anyone interested, I dont know if Dave plays but I will make sure he plays at least once while he is there!!!!!!!!!!

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: ariston on May 30, 2005, 10:05:43 PM
I may be be able to dust off my clubs as I havent played in a few years. AS long as no money is involved as I dont believe in gambling on anything other than poker anymore  ;) Maybe a forumite challenge although I am not a member of anywhere anymore so my handicap of 26 will no doubt be debated and adjusted accordingly.

Having played every day in spain many years ago I can assure you thats carts will be needed. Getting out of a buggy and swinging then getting back into the buggy isnt too bad. If I had to attempt to cary a bag for 18 holes I think I may well be dead before the 9th.

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: tikay on May 30, 2005, 11:39:53 PM

Does Dave Colclough play golf? In a manner, yes......

I was lured into a threeball today with Paul Maxfield & Dave Colclough, at Trentham Golf Club. Paul is a terrific player, 12 handicap, with a short game that's about 5 handiicap. He is a great chipper around the greens, tidy putter too.

El Blondie? Bit like me really, great shot, duff duff, great shot, duff duff. He lost 8 balls today EIGHT! Tikay lost nine...... And Dave scored 11 Stapleford points, off 28. I scored 10, off 22......

Golf, no money involved????? does this happen????? i thought poker was not gambling Ariston?????????????

It will be very hot, carts will be needed, need to pick a date and I will need to know about how many will play, may be able to get the group out on a nice course, have friends that are golf pros out there.

Tikay, I will be in Vegas later today so if you want to take the lead on the golf thing????

I will be playing at the Palms today and tommorow, have you looked at the schedule at the Palms? Comp every day!!!!!
Amyone going to play in the 1st event  in WSOP on the 3rd????? (besides Dave) ;D :D

Think isa is in the 1st events as well, shes in about 18 so far. I will be over for the main event but I think I will try to qualify for the 3 others as well available on betfair (6pac format). Maybe a little friendly wager on the golf would be ok as long as I dont get paired with ironside  ;D

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: Ironside on June 01, 2005, 05:06:43 PM
i aint got a passport so your safe

actaully living where i live it would be impossible for me not to be a great golfer (havent played in nearly 16 years) but when i was a kid i played an average of 54 holes a day during the summer and played of 4, there are more course round me than distillerys (and thats alot) and you can get a years membership for the cost of a round in the south of england with no need to book tee times just turn up and play.

but if you guys are going to take carts round the course you can't claim to have played the course as the carts done all the exercise, you need to try a 16 mile tab with an 80 lb pack on your back in 40 degree heat then you know you have lived

ps any lapdancers on the golf course?

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: Karabiner on June 01, 2005, 07:17:04 PM
I know of at least two lapdancing clubs in LV, and I'm sure there are many more now !

PS Are you feeling well enough to help me resize that pic yet ?

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: Colchester Kev on June 01, 2005, 07:58:40 PM
last time i was in vegas(about 4 years ago) we visited an establishment called De ja vu,a decent lap/pole dancing place, no alcohol allowed, but was a good laugh, i would be prepared to go back there, purely for research purposes to see how it has changed since my last visit ;)

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas

Can't see the point of returning to Deja Vu, you'll have seen it all before........

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: Colchester Kev on June 01, 2005, 08:07:05 PM
ok lol i will have that one .... thing is Tikay, a man of your advancing years will be having memory problems, so i feel i wiould be doing you a kindness in accompanying you to such an establishment, just to refresh your memory ;).... no no no , no need to thank me, I like to do my bit for the elderly :)

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: tikay on June 01, 2005, 08:16:35 PM

Advancing years? Fading memory? Don't push it Kev......

As it happens, I have never - ever - been to a Lap Dancing Club, & if what I hear is correct, I never will. Is it true that girls - scantily clad - sit on your lap, & you ain't allowed to touch them? Thats sado-machisism, surely.

I know a guy who owns a "Gentlemans Club", which I assumed was old codgers falling asleep in leather armchairs. Apparently, it aint quite ilike that.....

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: ariston on June 01, 2005, 10:16:25 PM
Last time Kev went into a lapdancing club he went straighteyed  ;)  Nonody ever told me about the no touching rule either, what would be the point without a little jiggle here and there.

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: tikay on June 01, 2005, 10:25:56 PM
Jeez, I am learning some new words tonight - wht's a "little jiggle"? Earlier, I learned "torrents" which is something to do with betting I gather, "the new napster".

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: ariston on June 01, 2005, 10:28:39 PM
you know a little jiggle here or a nuzzle there...nearest thing I get to the real thing nowadays.  :P

We cordially invite you to Spearmint Rhino in vegas (for research purposes obviously) where we will show you the meaning of the words "jiggle" and "nuzzle".

Tikay,

This is Easycure.....friend of American Scott Bush who I sweated throughout the Monte Carlo Grand Final.....we will be in Vegas for WSOP Event #2.....any chance we'll see you floating around the Rio? We'll be doing breakfast Frinday morning in the Sao Paulo Cafe 10:15am Friday morning. Stop by if you're around. Otis will be there.

Any place that will be giving live updates of chip counts like you did for the EPT? That was good stuff, and I have family that want to follow along during Event #2.

Please let me know if there will be a live update site running somewhere.

Thanks, Easycure

LOL at me going straight eyed :)
it does have its advantages you know, for example when we take tikay to the spearmint rhino or de ja vu, i can keep one eye on the "artistes" and one on the old fella (and when i say old fella, I mean Tikay, you filthy minded reader !!)
My kids were quite old before they actually realised that i couldnt really look round corners :)

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: tikay on June 02, 2005, 12:09:16 AM
Hi Easycure, yes I remember you well from Monte Calo when you sweated Scott Bush, who did so well.

Will we be Live Updating Event # 2? Not sure yet. Dave Colclough - my partner - will be playing in the comp, & may give us limited updates, but I shall not be there for a few weeks yet. But somehow or other, we may be able to keep you updated on Event # 2.

blonde WILL be announcing their Vegas plans in the next day or two. We - blondepoker & Poker 425 - will be there for the big one, thats all organised, I have got myself a Press Pass thanks to Poker 425, & we will be doing a full live update, as well as various daily diary pieces on differnt sites. Watch this space for further news.

Good luck in Vegas!

you will be joining us on the tables of the main event wont you Tikay? Its the least blonde could do after all your work on here  ;)

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: tikay on June 02, 2005, 12:24:29 AM
I wish Ariston, I really do, but it's looking increasingly unlikely. I am running bad this year in B & M tourneys (thank goodness for online, it's kept me afloat!), & can't really justify $10k, much as I'd love to. Still, you never know what tomorrow may bring, eh?......

But even if I don't play the biggie, I will be there to give all the blondeites the very best in Live Updates.

But your post is very kind, & much appreciated.

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: ariston on June 02, 2005, 12:28:44 AM
You have to play mate, get a single table sat won when you get out there. The big one is waiting after your impressive bubble collection this year.

Title: Re: Blondites in Vegas
Post by: tikay on June 02, 2005, 12:42:53 AM
I have just not had time to play any online Sats, blonde & 425 are very time consuming, though very satisfying. I played a Stars shootout last week, made the Final Table, but you can guess what happened next......

But yes, I will play a couple of Sats when I get out there, you never know, eh?

Form is a werird thing, I have made money "live" every year since I started, but this year it's been bubble after bubble.

My last 4 Festival comps:

Barcelona 1000E - good shape (average) 2 off the money in a 170 runner field, overplayed AK & could not improve against 55, I sussed the guy was weak by his overbet, but he went in ahead & stayed ahead.

Sheffield 150 Thursday. Lowish chips, pushed in with AQ & got called by Q-3 - Q-3!!! - & the 3 rivered.

Sheffield 300 Main Event, Friday. 14 left, refused to pass my JJ to Ali Mallu's RR - I still think it was a correct play against Ali. He had AQ, board came A-A-7-Q-K.........

Sunday Southampton. Just above average, 14 left, I got myself pot-committed with QQ - actually I slightly overbet - an error - so had to call the RR, the guy had AA.

It will turn when the poker gods are ready.

Tikay,

It all comes around, I have been on a good roll last 2 months, just win baby, just win!!!!

1) Plaza 2nd place  $2,000,( Dave 4th place OH NO, just kidding, I got lucky w/ my KQ against Daves AK)
2) Bahamas /  $2,000, chip leader after 1st day but finished 12th
3) Hollywood, Fl /  $1,000, final table
4) Palms /  $200 1st place,  yesterday (lost twice w/ AA)
5) Palms /  $500 2nd place, today (lost once w/ AA)

These are the last 5 live events I have played.I hope this carries over to the WSOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nooooooo, dont start talking about your form, I sooo want to talk about mine but so far Ive managed to spare you, well almost, I slipped a bit when my QQ was cracked by 66 on the bubble of the 300 at Walsall, I had good chips too after being Billy short stack all day

See, once you start you cant stop

I have to say though Tony, Its kind of comforting to know that someone else is suffering too

Tikay, I really consider myself a real closet case, I just ALWAYS get lucky, or at least that is what the players I crush will tell you. What about the golf deal, can you post something to get a list started, I can get a pretty good deal, not sure what a good date would be, I would pick any day there is a Omaha event here but I don't think that would go over real big w/ the big BLONDE!!!!

Just Winning in Vegas ;D ;D ;D

Hey Kev
The only place in town running this type of show is the Greek Isles Hotel. Its off the strip just past the Convention Centre.
The show is a Tribute to Frank, Sammy, Joey and Dean and re-creates their shows at the Sands.
Hope you get lucky and can find someone to keep you company - coz you gotta be old for this.

Hope you get lucky and can find someone to keep you company - coz you gotta be old for this.

What can i say ....  Im a young 40 year old with a cool taste in music, i am currently listening to a great album by James Blunt "Back to Bedlam"  sort of Damien Rice meets david gray.. and Blunt beats them both, look out for him, he is gonna be massive this year.
I also love motown music, and two tone/ska and can as happily listen to Abba gold as The Streets "a grand dont come for free"
But when in vegas it would be rude, maybe even sacreligious(if thats how you spell it) to not see either a Rat pack tribute, or an Elvis tribute... although I am more a fan of Sinatra and friends.
So im deffo gonna be going even if im on my own, you lot can go see Celine dion lol

Heres a few lines from a Sinatra song "Thats Life"

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing
Each time I find myself layin' flat on my face
I just pick myself up and get back in the race

That's life (that's life), that's life and I can't deny it
Many times I thought of cuttin' out but my heart won't buy it
But if there's nothin' shakin' come this here July
I'm gonna roll myself up in a big ball a-and die

Now Isnt there a rather big poker tourny on in july ?

And now someone has suggested I take a Helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. NO WAY! I'd rather go on a roller-coaster. Then again......

Did you know that Helicopters are the most dangerous forms of flying in a thing with blades whizzing round? And that most fatal helicopter crashes result in death?

Be afraid? I AM.

Beginning to regret I ever agreed to do Vegas......
