Title: Gardening/lettuce question
Post by: Dingdell on June 05, 2009, 02:18:57 PM
I have been growing lettuce and tumbling tomatoes in a window box. The lettuce looks big enough to eat - each leaf is about the size of a small hand. Do I pick it by the leaf or take the whole lettuce out and grow another one?

I wondered if you just took a few leaves and then it continued to grow. Any one know? Thank you.

You can do it both ways.  My in laws take the lot out because they know they'll use it up fast.  I go the leaf route and have never had a problem with it.  Either way, enjoy!

I remember a lass who grew lettuce, she would take the whole lot out. She used to eat like a rabbit as well.

Better be careful with that...once the lettuce gets too old the leaves can fall right off.

Shake her lettuce? I didn't think she'd stoop that low.
