Sounding good & the boy's on form. Henman seems to strike polar opposite opinions due to his support in England (especially during Wimbledon), either people think he was the best thing to happen to British tennis or someone who never one anything in a long career. The truth of course is somewhere in between and the fact we now have a better Scottish player this has led to comparisons with Henman, meaning Scots got ridic uppity about any comparison with Henman and then the English people got all defensive about Henman. Nevertheless even now Murray is clearly a much much better player than Henman ever was, 12 wins to Henman's 11. His win rate is also much better, Henamn making and losing another 17 finals, Murray has only lost 6. WOW - I didn't expect that to be taken as a crack at Henman, I was having a pop at the commentator trying to 'even things out' as the uppity Jock had just gone further than Henman had. Personally I wasn't a huge fan of Henman, he has a decent player although never as good as the hype, he got a nice guy rep without ever really showing a nice guy personna on the court either. Add that to to stick that Murray takes over his behaviour... it's not Henman I dislike it's the old double standard between the toff's behaviour & the commoner's. |
