The league of gentleman was one of the best programmes ever on telly, no doubt about it. Over 75% of the population probably hated it though. All a matter of opinion imo! The mighty boosh = an even better programme, pure class Mighty Boosh + Normal Person = look of pure confusion Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: tikay on June 19, 2009, 07:10:31 PM Did you watch it Tom ? I doubt it. He's prob one of those blinkered folk that hold the view that all Light Entertainment on TV is tosh. Bring back Sunday Night at the London Palladium, I say. Started with the Tiller Girls, then a Compere/Comedian, then a proper comedian, next up a singer, then Beat The Clock, then a juggler, another comic, then a big name act like Norman Wisdom or Harry Worth, then the best bit, when they'd all get on that revolving stage. Da da, di da de da da da da, da da, di di de da da da da, da da, da de da da, da de da, de da, de da da da. They don't make telly like that any more. Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: StuartHopkin on June 19, 2009, 07:13:23 PM how has tikay missed the opportunity to point out that i am starring in this programme? im right in the centre of that pic!
Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: Kev B on June 19, 2009, 08:32:47 PM Brilliant stuff, about time they wrote more of what they do best.
Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: Cf on July 03, 2009, 03:18:59 PM I've just caught up with this on iplayer.
Brilliant! I miss the LoG, and whilst this is obviously different you can see the similarities. The characters are really good, and Mr Jelly's backstory was suprisingly sad. My favourite bit so far though has to be the ebay auction. Esp with an hour or so to go the comments of "don't bid yet, we don't want the seller to work out it's valuable and pull the auction". And lol @ the £9000.1 bid that would clearly be rejected. Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: bolt pp on July 08, 2009, 05:28:02 PM it's not the worst series in the world, i watched the first episode and it looked really good but the next couple wernt that great but i'm into it now.

According to the website the BBC wanted a cheap 7th episode and that was the result. I was impressed that the entire thing seemed to be done in 2 shots. I assume they originally intended to make the series 6 episodes, with the BBC asking for this extra special episode. Don't get wrong, I really enjoyed it. But when viewed as part of the overall series it does stand out as a bit of a filler ep. Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: Sark79 on July 12, 2009, 08:09:55 PM Great show
Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: rex008 on July 13, 2009, 10:05:58 AM I caught up with this episode last night on the old Sky+. Really excellent. As the fill-in bloke said at the end, basically it was an homage to Hitchcock, in particular the film "Rope". And I felt particularly geeky when I spotted the fake change-the-film-reel-in-the-camera. Hitchcock used the technique of filling the screen with a dark object momentarily as a cut point when he needed to change film reels. They still make the film look pretty seamless, but if you know about it, they become obvious. They did the same thing in Psychoville about halfway through when they opened the lid of the trunk, although I suspect that was done as an in-joke for geeks rather than to change a film reel.
Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: Cf on July 24, 2009, 01:23:20 AM Getting weirder by the episode, and more interesting!

Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: Cf on May 06, 2011, 12:58:12 PM Second series started last night. Seems like a good mix of old and new characters. I especially liked the librarian and the silent singer :D
Title: Re: Psychoville Post by: Cf on June 06, 2011, 09:24:29 PM Has anyone been watching this series?
Finale is tonight instead of Thursday for some reason... |
