Title: the ashes
Post by: bigusdikus on June 22, 2009, 10:29:53 PM
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY TRESCOTHIC IS NOT IN THE ENGLAND TEAM? WHY DON'T THE SELECTORS PICK THE BEST TEAM?DO ENGAND HAVE ANY HOPE?
it seems to me its an old boys school.
sport is bent,F1 should be called formula one sided, the premiership can only be won by 2/3 teams, rugby is going the same way,the SPL is a farce, the oil sheiks buy all the best horses. can you see what i'm getting at. of course, there are the occasional fairy tales, rovers in 95
your thoughts

Trescothic made some comments about women, religion and the police. The ECB deemed him a fool and told him he would not be selected.

So i heard anyway.

occasional fairy tales, rovers in 95 = a shed load of Jack Walker's money after he sold his steel company. No fairytale

thoughts? about the ashes?  If I had to guess, I'd say we are trying to develop a team that will progress for future years.

Those that have the most money do the best over a long period of time, it's always been like that, why the suprise now?

Simple one

He suffers from a depressive illness, that first flared when travelling abroad to play. He then decided to retire from international cricket. All documented in his award winning auutobiography, which is a tremendous read.

Cook and Strauss are class openers. We won't lose the Ashes, if we do, because of the absences of Trescothick

Personally I think we're underdogs, but it will be 2-1 either way

"sport is bent"

why? inequality of resources is not a new thing and no indication of malpractice

we will lose the ashes due to openers cos we wont get one of theres out for less than 100 in any innings

"F1 should be called formula one sided"

why? Ferrari and Mclaren 2008 v Ferrari and Mclaren now? Looks pretty competitive to me one season to the next

though Phil hughes looks like a real find.

I hope we prepare dry turners, I think we'd out bowl them

Hughes has a strange technique though. His spell at Middlesex might have actually worked in our favour, given that Flower will have had a decent chance to have a look at him.

what odds will u give me he scores more runs than both our openers added 2gethether. you can have a good look at any player at that level nowadays with the tv coverage. we would have seen steve waugh lots of times in past but he still hammered us

Is the Aussie team not in a bit of limbo too at the moment. This series could easily go either way no?

Weren't people saying that he posted his introductory adventures on other forums a few months ago?

Would be a long way to go for a gimmick account.

Crazy that he's been out of work for so many years from management when he's that good, wonder what that's about

This seemed such an innocent thread, I was hoping for 'Blatch on Wimbledon' like analysis of the up coming Ashes, Instead I have a guy (who, as a former banned member for creating a similar body parted alias, feels this name should be banned) saying comments, which in honesty I hope you continue to..... classic!!

but come on..are you a dingle?
