Title: Just want some opinions on this one
Post by: Rod on June 27, 2009, 03:25:13 PM
What do you guys think of the way I played this hand? The other player in the hand bboru77 is playing 24/17 over approx 100 hands. Sorry if this sounds a bit of a stupid question it's just a problem I am running into quite often. I raise preflop, basically hit nothing but am in position. I make a c-bet on the flop and get called. They check to me again on the turn (which is a card I can rep). Should I be taking a stab at the pot or not? Or perhaps a better question would be what kind of player should I be taking a stab at the pot against?

i have no issue with most of this, but why 4x preflop? mix up raising and calling by all means but its not like you're unhappy with a multiway pot

Are you c-betting 100% of the time ? If so I am not surprised people are calling your c-bets on the flop and then raising/betting the turn when you have air.

i dont think people at nl50 look into that kinda thing at any great depth, you should be c-betting plenty heads up in position - but perhaps temper it in multiway pots and on coordinated boards. here i think i c-bet 100% of the time

I think you played it fine tbf. The ace is a great turn card to double barrel and your hand has no showdown value so you have to bet. Agree with dousche a lot of players at this limit especially on i-poker will flat with a lot of broadway and A-10, A-J hands OOP. They will also play fit/fold postflopso i reckon in the longterm this is a winnign play.

I have no hand and no draw but I do have position and the lead in the hand. I pretty much C-Bet 100% of the time here - unless my opponent has a very low fold to C-bet percentage over a good sample size. I might sometimes check the flop if I have a hand with some potential (ie inside str8 draw or two overcards). This would depend on the percentage of the time my opponent folds to a C-bet as in those situations I don't want to get raised. In this hand I don't mind if my C-Bet gets raised. When a scare card falls on the turn I try to rep it this is the play I was unsure of - I don't C-Bet the turn every time though, in fact I probably do it a bit less than I should. What do you think he has? This line looks stronger than just a pair of Aces to me - would you put him on a set or two pair?
