Title: mobile phone number database Post by: phatomch on July 10, 2009, 05:09:36 PM Maybe you have heard about this, but early next week all UK mobiles will be on a directory. This will mean that anyone will be able to access the numbers. It is easy to unsubscribe, but it must be done before the beginning of next week to make sure that you are ex directory. You may want to suggest removal to all your friends, family and colleagues who have UK mobiles or they could be swamped by unsolicited messages and calls. Removal is recommended by the BBC – see link below.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/8091621.stm The Directory of Mobile Phone numbers goes live next week. To remove your number go here. (you need your mobile phone with you to do this, they text you a code) http://www.118800.co.uk/removeme/remove-me.html Title: Re: mobile phone number database Post by: bolt pp on July 10, 2009, 06:08:31 PM fckin hell, what chance have you got?
they know where you are all day anyway by tracking your phone to masts, even if you get a pay as you go they try to incentivise you to register it, ive never had one but from what i understand it's the same turn out with the oyster card, it's cheaper if you register yeah? so they can see where you are all day. you walk anywhere you're on camera. from different devices they know where you are and what you're up to all day the bastards, i reckon they probably collect all the info about your patterns and habits and feed it into a computer to try and suss out what you're gonna do next. Title: Re: mobile phone number database Post by: bolt pp on July 10, 2009, 06:12:32 PM plus theyre bringing in(or they might already have it) the face recognition gear in the underground so if you dont have an oyster card they get you that way.
then i suppose they monitor bank/ credit card charges, more bollox. This countrys a shithole joke that's one big invasion of privacy, i'm going to live in the congo. So they claim to have details of 15m of the 40m mobile phones in use in this country. I reckon that this story will ensure that they are aware of a lot more 'live' mobile numbers now. It's not really any different than directory enquiries. Marketing companies aren't going to use the service to contact people at £1 a time, without being able to filter the information into a more useful list. So, a service where you can dial up, give a name and location and they can put you through to that persons mobile number sounds quite a useful one to me. (Assuming they are in their database) So much standard information about people is readily available on the net, don't see this making much of a difference. |
