Title: Horse race - 3.00 Ayr Post by: chrisbruce on July 13, 2009, 03:13:34 PM Rounding the final bend 7 horses out of 12 get taken out in a mass pile up.
Pretty disturbing scenes. Amazingly all the horses and jockeys were able to walk away. Title: Re: Horse race - 3.00 Ayr Post by: ItsMrAlex2u on July 13, 2009, 08:15:58 PM any links to this?

Ayr is going straight down the drain, visitors numbers have been down for a while and they were desperately trying to flog the course a while ago (I think the asking price was £30 mill or something). A bit of common sense "Firm ground +Loads of water means slippery so let's walk the track would have prevented this" Title: Re: Horse race - 3.00 Ayr Post by: steeveg on July 13, 2009, 09:01:40 PM RUK picked up on something after the race, as the horses are approaching the bend you can see someone standing all alone on the rail, theory is it was the new clerk of the course, question ruk are asking is why is she standing all alone at the bend for that race if she didn't anticipate a problem,
this was a very unusual occurrence but it could have a knock on effect , flash floods could lead to the abandonment of a lot of races from now on, just to be safe, Title: Re: Horse race - 3.00 Ayr Post by: boldie on July 13, 2009, 09:24:55 PM Quite right TBH..you don't want to be going as fast as possible on a slippery surface
