Apart from being down $5 preflop, did I play this ok?     The funky thing at this low limit seems to be call the pfr with any shit from the big blind and don't give up.  Apart from knowing the bb does this from time to time, I have no reads.

I should have checked behind on the turn shouldn't I?  Was the cbet even worth it on a board where I have no draws other than the gutshot?

Depending on how well balanced your opening range is the pot bet pre and pot bet on the flop more or less tells him what you've got.

I don't mind the raise pre obviously but it can highlight your hand if you don't raise too often. I prefer to check behind on the flop then raise his turn lead or check if we get chance. Looks far stronger and makes him less likely to bluff.

I don't want to be betting out with this hand giving my oppo a chance to make a nice big pot raise that i can't call. I don't mind raising though because it takes a big hand or big nuts to 3 bet the turn.

As played yes you should check the turn.

AAxx is nice but if it misses or you don't have some kind of soul read on your oppo just give it up.

why on earth would you want to check the turn?

only difference is i may check the flop occasionally but it depends on your image
