Title: Re: Work Experience Post by: Scottish Dave on July 18, 2009, 01:48:14 PM I wasn't interested in doing work experience, so i just stuck down Retail on the form and they put me in the local Driving Range Shop.
They didn't really want us there so they just kept giving us token's for the Ball machine and told us to just go hit Balls all day! It was awesome! I tend to disagree. Part of schooling should be about preparing kids for live in the real world afterwards. I'd say a week spent out and about in the workplace is likely to be of more use to most young adults than sitting in a classroom learning Latin or trigonometry. (that being said i dont agree with the lib dems compulsory sex ed for 5 year olds either) Title: Re: Work Experience Post by: Claw75 on July 19, 2009, 12:14:17 AM Yup, Nanny State Nonsense. (that being said i dont agree with the lib dems compulsory sex ed for 5 year olds either) we never even got the fun of putting a condom on a cucumber :( When we disputed how useless our sex education classes were and asked for contraception to be covered the teacher said she could teach us the rhythm method only, and one girl in the class piped up saying why did we want to know that anyway, as none of us should be thinking of sex before marriage ::) Title: Re: Work Experience Post by: dino1980 on July 19, 2009, 12:46:15 AM I did a week in the sports department at Westcountry TV in Plymouth. By sheer coincidence it was the same week that my sister's friend Karen Cross made round three at Wimbeldon. Managed to get them in contact with her fairly quickly. Was a fun week with lots of variety.
Title: Re: Work Experience Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on July 19, 2009, 01:06:30 AM I did 2 weeks in a local small business. They sold hardware and the like. Was kind of tedious at times but the guys that ran it were good lads. They gave me £100 at the end of it too and I worked for them part time for the next 6 months.
