Title: Unibet Open Day 2
Post by: AlrightJack on July 18, 2009, 04:17:06 PM
Been pretty hectic here for me so far today. Dealing with the TV crew, etc has kept me from posting until now. The tournament has been in progress for alsmost 2 hours now and there are 53 players left from 70 that returned. The live webcast of the feature table will start after the break, so anyone wishing to follow the action can do so on the Unibet Open site. Keir Ratcliff and Bepps arte on it, as was Michael McDonald but he has either been busted or moved to another table (odds on he busted). Also on the feature table is red haired Polish pop sensation Mihal Wisniewski. He came in today with a hat with a shark's fin on top of it, but is no longer wearing it. His other half Anna started the day dressed as a nun. But apparently she has a habit of getting knocked out early on day 2 and true to form, she has now had her last tournament rites performed on her.

Mohammad Merza had a nasty exit in a three way all in, in which he was well in front with KK versus QQ and JJ. The jacks took the lead on the flop, but the queens scooped the lot when making a straight on the river.

They are now on a break and there are 50 players left.

I haven't got the chip counts yet, but I haver had a quick glance and it looks like the chip leader is Gianluca Speranza, however, the next four spots are occupied by British/UK based players - Richard Grace, Sam Trickett, Josh Gould and Bernard Litman.

Lights Out at the Unibet Open

The players returned from the dinner break and TD Patrick Hakkinen was about to restart the tournament when there was a power failure on the second floor. Complete darkness for a few minutes, but some cash games carried on using lighters and mobile phones to complete hands that were in progress. It took about 10 minutes or so to power up the set again once the light was restored and play is now underway again.

32 players made it to the dinner break. It's a 1-2 for the UK at the moment with Mohammed Muse leading the way on 231,0000 and Sam Trickett scratching at his heels on 196,600. In total there are 12 UK players left with Josh Gould in 5th place, Richard Grace in 8th and James Mitchell in 13th. The others still in include Alex Rousso, Gurpreet Nagi, Quoc Nguyen, Bernard Litman Ketul Nathwani and Alex Kielman.

Mrs Polish pop star is actually still in, but sans nun outfit.

Yep, Bepps exited during level 3 I think. Sam still going really well and we are 1 player away from the bubble therefore down to 29 players.

Non-existent bubble.

James Mitchell open shoved from early position with his remaining 41,000 chips and was called by Gurpreet Nagi in the big blind. Gurpreet had pocket jacks to James's K-Q off. No paint on the board and James was just covered by Gurpreet so exited in 29th place. As this was happenning Bernard Litman then went out on table 1 to become the bubble boy with no hand for hand situation required.

"Congratulations, you are all in the money" announced Patrick Hakkinen after a suitable pause to let the exitees depart gracefully.

What time does it finish tonight JR?

If it's not done by midnight they all turn into pumpkins...

But seriously, how long is a piece of string?

Answer - 9 players long.

Sam looks to be a big chip leader now. He just won a big pot with 77 v A-K to send Paul Valkenburg to the rail in 19th place. Down to 2 tables now. Alex Rousso has also recently departed.

Richard Grace is now out. He ran nines into tens, held by Constantine Can. 10 left, 1 to go, but unfortunately so do I, so you will have to tune into the Unibet Open website to find out who bubbles the final table. See you tomorrow!

Yep, I was out when Mr Raab declared. Was short stack, only had one move. I got away with a few all in's, before running into Constantine's mighty QJ off.

Thanks for all the support though guys, appreciate it! Glad I cashed, dissapointed didn't make the final though! £187k pay day, could have been sweet.....
