Title: Take a stab at Man City starting XI
Post by: 77dave on July 18, 2009, 08:40:26 PM
                       Given

Zabaleta    Dunne     Onuoha      Bridge

             Barry       DeLong

Tevez                                   Robiniho

          Santa Cruz        Adebayor

Schmeichel
Richards
Ben-haim
Garrido
Ireland
Johnson
Kompany
Wright-Philips
Benjani
Bojinov
Elano
Bellamy

Gonna be some tough decisions ahead for Hughes. Must be some bargins for other teams to pick up here. Suprised teams like Wolves and Birmingham havent come knocking.

I dont want to hijack the thread but mark hughes is such a fucking donkey, he only knows how to play at home, he could be managing barca and he'd struggle to get them top six, it's what he did with blackburn, it's what he's done with city so far, theyre pumping all this dough into the club, how can they not see it?

I think you will be able to count on one hand the amount of games Robinho/tevez/adebayor/santa cruz all start this season.

2 from tevez/adebayor/santa cruz for most games, plus robinho playing as an attacking mid

A fit and focused Michah Richards would def be in my 11 too, plus 3 from wright-phillips/barry/de yong/kompany in centre mid, with Robinho having licence...

Itll be the same as Chelsea with Ranieri except Hughes isnt as good as Ranieri was.  They will give him a chance with all the money, he now has too many attackers he doesnt know what to do with them, he will fail spectaculalry, he gets sacked and they bring in some overpriced super manager from abroad.

It's such an imbalancd side no matter what first XI you pick. Everton to finish higher IMHO.

Man City are 2.08 to win Prem w/o the big 4!

Lay Lay Lay!

Kompany is injured, otherwise he would make the starting line up. Happy with squad once they sort out central defenders. Off to see them v Celtic on the 8th so looking forward to seeing the new buys.
Talk of top 4 is still way off though in my view, although with no european games, teams like City and Spurs could have an advantage against the likes of Everton and Villa.

Hughes thinks alot of Steven Ireland as a player and the fans love him im sure he'll not miss many games this season. Richard Dunne is useless JT would slot in lovely.

i think wright-phillips will be the starting line up the majority of the time on the right wing

wright-phillips    barry     ireland/de jong     robinho

              tevez               adebayor

this as long as they dont bring in another central midfielder which i think they will

I must wholeheartedly disagree with this statement.
