Since 1971 I have been a County fan, through thick and thin, ups and downs. We have bounced around the divisions like a yoyo on speed. I ignored the fashionable Forest across the Trent and stuck by my guns and endured the laughter and derision of others. Now if Sven and the backers get their way the team will be in the Premiership within a decade. I am waiting for some wise cracker then to say I only support them because of their success!

Seriously Rob in those 38 years how many seasons do you think you have ever started with any real hope of success?  How many of those seasons have you had "a chance" of some success come April or May?

I really hope it works out - while I was at Uni I watched Wigan quite a lot, and it was through the period they came through the leagues, some of those games hold as good memory's as some of the amazing things I have been lucky enough to see Arsenal do.

Savour every minute.

Well I was lucky to first get involved in the year we were promoted from the old 4th Div, record points and a good team. County came 4th in the Third Division the following year and the next were promoted. So with that record you go to see the first kick of the new season "knowing" that you are going to have a successful year, again. A few years of Second Division football was followed by 3 years of struggling in the (old) First Divsion, then freefall. Even still you hope if not "know" this will be your teams year. OK, usually you get battered by November and pray you don't slip to far down so as to add to the relegation stats.

A friend of mine, a blades fan says we usually destined for misery as a football fan. You hope and pray this will be the season you see your club winning the Division, but only one out of twenty will achieve success, the fans of the other clubs are left to pick up the pieces of their crushed hopes and walk home on a damp April evening and say "next year, it will be us", the circle turns.

Sven's useless, he'll be doing other things and get bored and distracted and probably wind up pissing off with all his shares and a huge payoff after failing to get county anywhere

leave it out, he was great for the F.A always got to the majors, done good in qualifying always got through the groups again and into the last 8, super consistent, gave the fans chances to buy england gear and made the F.A fortunes but he seemed to just about do enough, very safe with no real ambition, that was the sense i always got.

he was too busy banging every other bird in the office, then when the news of the world had him over that time for a bit more money he was ready to dump england so fast and go where the dough is.

look at the world cup, 1-0 up against brazil who are down to 10 men, he bottled it!!!

sven is ONLY about the money and when county realise he cant do the job he'll happily leave with a huge check in his pocket, this is NOT good for county.

Come on. The England national side is just overrated and Seaman F'ed it up for you..not Sven. He also did OK with City.
Of course he would leave the England job for more money at a club that would have ridic amounts to spend...the England job is a poison chalice..unless you win every tourney you're considered to be a shit manager and the press in this country is simply ridiculous when it comes to the National side.
Screw that, leave and go to build something at Man City for 5mill a year.

He's a grand choice for County. It gives them some big experienced guys in charge who can bring in some decent players (bigger names than any unknown manager could) and some much needed publicity..maybe now they'll actually have some people showing up for their games.
