Title: Calling Forest Fans/Championship Specialists.
Post by: Horneris on July 22, 2009, 10:35:42 PM
Billy Davies is a fantastic manager at this level.

Theyve just signed who many consider to be Polands brightest talent in Radoslaw Majewski.

Also made 3 what i consider very shrewd purchases in Dexter Blackstock, Paul Mckenna and Chris Gunter.

They already have players such as Rob Earnshaw, Joe Garner, Nathan Tyson, Chris Cohen and Garath Mcleary.

Big fan-base and clearly have money (2m on Gunter).

The relegated teams from the prem are weak imo.

30/1 with VC Bet yet only 14/1 with Laddies and 22s on Betfair.

Thoughts please.....

Back on VC and lay on Betfair?

Dont think they have enough to win the league, still a young side and may lack experience in key areas - certainly a good chance of making the play-offs though.

I mean really wtf are we doing selling Dex?

Helguson is shite. Vine has been out for the best part of 2 seasons. Agyemang can't be relied on scoring more than 5 a season.

I agree, Forest have outstanding claims. GL getting on more than about £2 with VCGits.

The Forest fans I know seem pretty upbeat about the new season but the playoffs would be considered a pretty big success. They were pretty woeful last season and only just survived. Probably worth a punt @ 30's e/w.

Mbn to still have a VC account, Camel. A temporary way round this is www.vikingbet.com, it is VC's foreign facing website. Weird they are they have Forest at the longest price given they are sponsoring them this season!

I noticed this, and was a little worried that they "knew".

A friend reckons their running a mailing campaign to get all the season ticket holders to back them too.

I live in Nottingham so take a passing interest in them. I think McKenna could be a big player for them. I also think Adebola could be their best striker. I'm concerned that Davies wants and thinks he needs 6 strikers though. I think he said he doesn't want any striker playing 2 games in a week. I'm not sure how it will work and if any of them will get into rhythm.

Mid table, outside chance scrape into play-offs...and I'm an optimist :)

VC seem to have the best price for a few teams - In all seriousness, what would you be able to get on them?

You will be able to get a serious bet if you have a new account or a normal account (not a winning one).

GL us, Blackpool are the only team to do the double over us this season.

But, neither side was our strongest, and they won't beat us over 2 legs this time around.

Nice payday BTW

Matt NFFC. RedSimon.

What about this season?

10/1 with Ladbrokes.

Best pound for pound SQUAD in the championship imo. Got a decent enough run in, form is incred (teams who start weak and then pick up big style have a great record in cship) and games in hand.

Added to that, i think QPR will drop quite a few points and don't have any fear of the likes of Swansea, Norwich and Leeds, you have to be a good bet at 10s?

QPR are the only danger imho, and be it a big danger, I think 10/1 is really good value.

Will just be happy to make play offs tbh. Can't see us winning the title

OK, to put it simply.

We've got to go to QPR, Norwich, Leeds, and Swansea....all teams in the top 6, and IMO we are 2 injuries away from being down to the bare bones particularly in defence.

Kelvin Wilson is off to Celtic apparently too.  We have a very big chance this year and it all depends if we get anyone in this month and how many go.

If we fook it up this season, Billy will walk and our best players will go (out of contract) so it really is do or die this year for me.

Talk to me after the transfer window.
 :)

Read today that Forest want £600k to release Wilson early. Doubt Celtic will pay it as our owner only has 13 billion or summit. Looks like he will be staying til the Summer.

What do the Forrest fans think of Wilson?I see he's played 38mins of Football in the past 2 months, is that because they are pissed off he's signed a pre contract?

He's been out of favour since turning down contract in Summer. Been common knowledge Celtic were getting him at end of season. He's probably above average Championship defender and will likely do well in SPL. Hoping we back down and accept 400K Celtic offered to get him now as I can't see him donning the garibaldi shirt again.

Press up reckon you's are holding out for 600k, we have 1 fit Centre half with a tough month coming up.Considering your Man hasn't been playing I don't think Celtic will pay it as they need a match fit Centre Half asap.

Very good away win, into 5/1 pretty much across the board.

We had a sweat for a while for QPR drawing 0-0 but they got the expected win in the end.

Deliberated about getting on this for ages when still 9/1 other day. Got on after talking to Brent about it for ages as i thought it was just too good a price to miss. (was 11/2 best everywhere else too)

Decent result tonight. Hopefully QPR slip up away at Reading on Friday night and Forest can beat Watford.

Two really tough games also this month, away at QPR and home to Cardiff. 4 pts outa those games would be brilliant.

fwiw, would obv love Leeds to do it, but thats not v realistic.

Horrific for us that QPR managed to get the win on Friday, really really big.

Judgement day is next Sunday, on tv:

Sunday, 13 February 2011
Npower Championship
QPR v Nott'm Forest, 13:15

If QPR win that, its game over. If they don't then Forest have a few decent fixtures after that and I still fancy it.

Realistically, we are going for the 2nd automatic spot.  Paul Konchesky was an impressive signing and was a bit of a shock TBH.  I think we can get that 2nd spot.

Dunno what price Leicester are to be promoted (via playoffs) but I'd be on them if I had spare cash.

The nerves have started already with a week to go till the QPR match.  1 - 1 draw for me.

We're in with a real shout

Top of the league since Sven arrived, unbeaten in 11, 5 wins out of 6 and tons of money gone into the team (Yakubu, Naughton, Van Aanholt, Vassell, Bamba and Bruma still to come)

Top two almost certainly out of reach, and whether we'll make it into the top six will depend on vital games like QPR, Cardiff and Forest away, Norwich at home.

Personally they way we are playing I think we'll make it in.

BH have you got any price that you would lay the bet at?
I read a stat regarding Billy Davies' managerial record between November-February or a similar period and I think it was something like no manager has a better points per game record in the Championship than Billy Davies in that particular period. Obviously can't find the stat at the moment but it seemed to suggest that this was the period in which his teams peak.
I think last season they got clear of West Brom and me and many others thought that they would go on and take 2nd.
Just wondered if they take 4-6 points from the QPR and Cardiff games if you were considering laying incase they didn't go the distance.

Not sure I agree with the bit about QPR having not bought there way up to the top. I mean spending 3.5m on one player and numerous others + massive wages compared to the rest of the division = buying your way there albeit not in a small period of time.

Well, the day has arrived, the beers are in the fridge and the living room fully booked.

Leicester were great against Derby and IMO justifies my previous point.  With all the other feckers winning this weekend with some sick sick late goals, a draw at least is a must.

It's all getting too tight for me.

Decent result given the circumstances.

Pre match i was quietly confident of all 3 but you can't argue with a point from 0-1 and 10 men.

Roll onto Wednesday and a must win match. Scunthorpe have been awful in the matches i've seen them play this year, but a better display yesterday against Cardiff and they won't just roll over.

Thought i'd put it here as it involves Championship title race/ play off race.

Some top loaning this week in the Championship.
Leeds did well to get Bannan, Forest have taken a chance on Boyd and now seen Burnley who have some games in hand and doing ok have signed Delfouneso. Oh and I think Cardiff loaned 2! keepers.
Everyone is really making a big final push. Really exciting race for automatic and play off places.
