Title: Nottingham Nightlife
Post by: outragous76 on July 29, 2009, 12:51:42 PM
OK

I am on a stag do in Nottingham on saturday night - 16 guys but all 30+ (so not rowdy rabble - but yes drunken)

Where are the best bars/late night bars to go to? What are the good parts of town?

Also we are staying [  ] in nottingham  - the best man has us in the marriot (breadsall manor or something). Anyway does anyone here know of a minibus driver that can carry 16 and might want to do a foreigner - or can just do it as a job

Cheers for any help

Right ive calmed down!

Why are you in that hotel? Your in Derby! You may aswell go out in Derby! Its 40 mins to Nottingham!

HP Minibuses 01159217755/07919484093

You probs best ring today though.

What sort of thing you looking for in Nottingham? Ill summarise it below but if you want any more info just ask.

Mansfield Road-
5 or 6 proper pubs serving real ales etc also small independant restaurants including my fave curry house the noor jahan

Cornerhouse-
A good mixture here, 2 or 3 pubs, a revolution, slug & lettuce and a slightly pretencious crowd upstairs in Saltwater, also a night club that i have no idea about called EQ. Just ip the road is the Orange Tree which is normally very busy on a Saturday night, I normally go here if you want to get away from the 'towny' bars.

Upper Parliament Street-
Flares/Reflex etc, i cant stand these places but seeing as your old they may be up your street, also the Alea casino here.

Chapel Bar
Fat Cats and a few restaurants leading down to

Market Square
Selection of pubs a couple of Wetherspoons, Yates (closed at the mo i think) if you walk up to the right of the council house there is a walkabout and opposite there is a pretty good pub with live music called the approach. If you walk to the top of the road there is a comedy kareoke irish bar open till the early hours called Chambers

Goosegate
Few bars on here including one of my favourites Bar11, there is also a Browns and the Market Bar, a Lloyds and a place called Cape that gets quite busy. Youve also got the pit and pendulum if you fancy a strange mix of rockers and normal people.

Lace Market
Supposedly classy bit of town but its not really, just full of sea nuts! Pitcher & Piano, Living Rooms and Blu all a bit more up market bars. There is a great nightclub/late bar called Lizard Lounge but when i went in last saturday it was that quiet upstairs wasnt even open.

Obviously there is the option of getting to DTD in time to view the lobster challenge at about 1am and then join us in Senoritas. Im sure if you ring James in advance he will sort out tables and some sort of show for you. (He is a regular at DTD)

Any questions?  ;)

Lizard Lounge i think has bitten the dust Stu, last time I was in there we doubled the people in there. Last few times we have walked by on Friday/Saturday night it has been closed.

Stu has done a pretty good overview of Notts, if the weather is nice the Waterfront(near the station) is an option, kind of chavvy but you can't beat beer, sun and a letch.

Yeah in general though town seems dead. Ive been in about 4 or 5 times in the last 3 months and the last month its been shite.
Last time i went in the Lizard Lounge and it was busy was about March time i think.

Yeah forgot the Waterfront, not sure how, possibly because if the weather stays the same I would avoid it. If its hot then can be fun but as Longy says full of little shitty chavs and avoid 'The Waterfront' bar at all costs.

Forgot Ha Ha bar near the Lace Market also, this can be quite a good starting point.

In fact talking of starting points!!!!!!!!!!!!! BZR triples for singles and more young girls than you can shake your stick at!

Not sure if its quite as busy when the students arent here. Not been in for a while, I have an ASBO, not aloud within 50 meters of over 100 drunk teenage girls.  :'(

BZR are is never quiet but agree it can be a bit of a carnival of sausage without the student girls.
I rate tonic aswell but again it's a bit of a starter bar as it's on the way into town.

We need to know more about the foreigner that wants doing...

erm - a minibus into nottingham from our hotel near nottingham, country retreat

ie - if someone is due to be clocking on at 7 with a mini bus - then we could do with being picked up first for cash

Stu - thanks for all that - much appreciated - we are staying there as it is a golfing stag and they have 2 courses - figured it was easier to make Tee times if we were on site - for the sake of 1 big journey into Notts on sat night

any other advice welcomed..........................

any strip joints in the city (ie not senioritas)

There is one in the city centre. If you find Walkabout/Approach on Friar Lane it is down a little alley there.
There is a couple of big bouncers with a sign, out the approach and just on your right.

PM EvilPie if you want a girl by girl breakdown.

Why dont you want to come and see us in Senoritas   :'(

Under no circumstances visit the other strip club in Nottingham.

It's crap!!!!

It's so crap in fact that I'm not even going to tell you where it is for fear that you might not believe me and actually go.

There's a couple of strip clubs in Derby. Eden's the best of the 2 but only open 'til 2am.

If you're after a strip club Derby is your best bet. Different rules to Nottingham so a bit more liberal. Girl's aren't as tasty as Senoritas but they do get a bit closer.

Why don't you want Senoritas? There'll be a few of us there.

nothing against senioritas - just you know what it is like getting people out of town on a stag.

We may well end up there en mass - what time does it close

Very late.

5.30 - 6am. Possibly later if there's 16 of you in there still spending.

Drink's aren't too expensive and it's a nice atmos. It's worth going there just for a few late beers even if you're not bothered about spending your hard earned on boobs.

3 month ago ish, cant remember the name. If you walk off the pedestrian bit by Barclays, turn left up the road with tramlines in and it just up there on the right hand side.

I think my mate might run the burlesque thing, or at least help organise it. He does something with burlesque at least.

On my mate's stag night people from SeƱoritas were out in the club (Oceana, FML) handing out fliers that would get you a free taxi there and some free drinks - might be worth hunting some of these if you want to go there.

I heard from a friend that you can get free taxis/minibus to Senoritas by the Brian Clough statue where Hard Rock used to be on the corner of market square.

Yeah pretty sure your both right!

Ring up in advance and they will probs arrange a limo to pick you all up.

I believe they have a mini bus. It's definitely not a limo but if it gets you there at the right price i'm sure you won't mind.

Might see you there or at DTD.
