Hi, Just wondering if anyone can help me ? I have just lost my job as sales executive for a sports hospitality company due to the owner moving to australia. I am now looking for a job within the gaming industry preferably within poker if anyone hears or knows of any current vacancies please can you let me know ? I have a c.v. avalible. Thanks in advance. you thought about doing a few poker cruises dave? my mate has just gone on one last week and he said he is having a fab time (im so jealous cos i wanted to go) you pay for ur flight and to get on the ship drinks and food all in pays for your accommodation etc then you get paid 1/2$ per hand delt as tips. one of the reasons i am leaving my job is because of this as it is something i am hoping to do next year x

I was supposed to be working on a cruise next week for bahamas but opening up palace of cards instead :)

Realistically you can forget about living the high life aboard a poker cruise ship just yet i'm afraid.

If you seriously want to get involved in dealing poker (yes you will have to deal it first, no walking into a cushy job) your going to need to find a casino to train you. Then you'll do 6 weeks basic training (roulette,blackjack, CS poker and all the other sins) before heading to the tables. Most operators will require you do at least 6 months of table games before being considered for Cardroom training and then its a steep learning curve from there, especially if your coming from the other side of the baize.


Its not as glamourous as it may appear either, the pay is low, the hours are awful, the conditions are not great. You are under constant scrutiny and will be talked down to, abused and generally amde uncomfortable a lot at some stage. Then theres the fact you cannot game anywhere in the UK, and some groups clamp down on private games too.

Not trying to put you off at all, just showing its a little different on our side even if it appears to be fun, the oppurtunity of travel is there eventually but you need to work up to a level before that door even opens slightly, so be prepared for 18months-2years of monotomy

Bluewolf I was offered the job but it was only for a weeks poker cruise, and specifically for european poker although for a caribbean liner, just couldn't get baby sitter arranged in time :(

also it co-incides me opening up my poker room :)

Was talkin to pokerdave, met a few people recently who have this idea they can waltz straight into the "glamourous" world of poker dealing on poker cruises with no experience whatso ever.
