Title: Laptop help Post by: Christo! on August 09, 2009, 03:12:43 PM Basically my laptop fell a couple of feet off a chair onto the floor. It wasn't damage and for 24 hours worked fine.
Now when I load it up it just freezes after a few minutes. I try Ctrl Alt Del to get to Task manager but its not working. Also Norton 360 seems to have problems and windows update needs to do stuff but my laptop freezes before I can sort these out. I tried system restore but before it finishes the laptop crashes. Anyone know if its more likely to be a virus, or have I damaged some of the hardware when it fell off the chair? Hard drives take being dropped while read/writing very badly. Try booting in safe mode, F8 while booting. If it's still buggered, it's the drive. There are ways of doing it, your poker tracker hands are probably still on it, intact.
