Title: Card off the table?
Post by: Drain Alien on August 13, 2009, 08:52:29 AM
So I am in the final of my local donkament yesterday (this morning; yawn) and as my 2nd card is dealt I almost flies off the table due to the swift pace of the dealer.

I just catch it (unfortunately?) and when it is on me I look down to see 99.

I have 50k which sounds Ok except that blinds were 6k\12k so I do the obvious.

After a ponder the bb call for 38k more.

She has KJ and [obv] hits K on turn to exit me.

So anyway, My question is what woulda happened if my card had let the table? (without my ninja reactions it woulda)
Would I have been given the burn card? (and then presumably folded / survived?).....not that it's playing on my mind.

Sigh

a bum deal ,if any card goes off the table ,all the cards have to go back in and the deck recounted.

venue dependent

in some places it's a bum deal, in others the card is exposed and becomes the burn card

I never like the option of an overturned/off the table card be deemed to be the burn card.

IMO any card that is dealt to a player and exposed should always be put back into the pack and given the opportunity to appear again.

Is there not a case for placing said cards back into the pack after all other hands are dealt, shuffle, deal the top card to the player and then continue as norm, thoughts?

no. that's one of the worst suggestions I've ever heard tbh

one player now has more info than the rest of the table. the whole reason for exposing cards to the table is to ensure equality in information

Another bizarre thing happened too. The cards were dealt and action commenced, then th dealer dropped th cards and half of them flipped over face up!

after a ruling The remaining deck was reshufled and the flop followed. Bizarre.  Oops!

And another funny thing happend on th very first hand of tourney. Neither blinds were at table and all folded to the button who folded. Lol. Another ruling....

Wow, just wow!
So you change the flop turn and river to 're-incorporate' the exposed card.
I dont think i could play if this was the rule!

This happened to me last night at DTD, dealt two lovely red aces in the SB.

Dealer / Player manage to flip card off the table - Bum deal and I have to much my Aces face up in disgust!!!
