Title: Stephen Hawking would be dead if he was from the UK...
Post by: kinboshi on August 13, 2009, 09:52:45 AM
Obama is looking to overhaul the US healthcare system (http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare/), and he's getting a lot of flack from the right-wing republicans.  The debate has meant that our NHS has been the focus of much opinion.  However, sometimes people really need to do their homework (even wikipedia would have helped them on this one) before coming up with their arguments:

In perhaps the most amusing effort to discredit US President Barack Obama's plan for nationalised health care - if not the most ridiculous - US financial newspaper Investor's Business Daily has said that if Stephen Hawking were British, he would be dead.

Rubbish - I've heard him speak and he doesn't have a British accent.

I think that's what made them believe he was American.

Him and Hugh Laurie.

Doesn't matter if he is - he's pretty stupid. It's the chair that does all the equations and that.
