Title: A different kind of challenge. Idea's welcome!
Post by: Acidmouse on August 13, 2009, 12:23:00 PM
Hi, well seeing as I am sick of poker and gambling I decided to do something different. A few of my friends laughed at the idea you could actually make money from websites using Adsense. I argued until I was blue in the face that it was infact a good idea and a way of creating a decent revenue stream IF you had a decent website that had lots on indexed content to place the ads.

My guild in World of Warcraft have bet me 100,000 gold! (worth about £800 pounds in the real world) that I could not create a website from scratch and before xmass this year generate $50 a month from it, a rule in place was after the website was live and content in place I would not be allowed to spend more then 10hrs a week updating/tweaking it.

Just not sure what the site should be about? anyone got idea's on what websites? I would prefer it was something I knew about and it was on something that allows adsense (i.e not  gambling or grot).

I have virtually unlimited space online and webtraffic allowance.

err, doesn't a site need to have been live for 6months before you can use adsense on it?

I have exsisting domain names / sites just slip the site on them. Although I was not aware of the 6months thingy.

I think recycling/energy type website may be a good place to start, im sure these pay upto £1 + a click through.
Im interested in how you are going to get the traffic so quickly, keep us updated.

:) Tempted.

I like the idea of recycling/energy will have to research other high paying click thru categories.

The $50 a month - how many months do you need to receive that revenue?  Just December?

It's not been stated but lets assume $50 each month from Dec for 3 months.

I'd give yourself 12 months to get it up and running.  Four and a half is going to be tight, unless you create a site that has huge viral appeal.

Might not be such a bad idea.

Health things and finance (credit cards, debt management etc) things are good traffic sites.   Does it have to be restricted to Adsense? Commission Juntion pays for referalls that may be worth looking into too for a bit extra.

Speak to Tightend and Royal Flush

They're good at making $50/month from a website.

On second thoughts, maybe not.

It's not "no swearing" here, but lets just be sensible, please.
