Background

As many of you will know from reading my posts on the forum my biggest problem with poker is bankroll management.

This year I won quite a lot (I don't use any trackers or software but I'd estimate in the region of $15k) playing small stakes PLO, predominantly $1/2 and $2/4. I decided to take a few shots at $5/10 and won a few buy ins right at the start which was probably the worst thing that could happen as I knew I could beat the games. The variance at those levels is crazy and after losing half my roll I didn't drop down and lost most of the rest of the it playing the same games.

This year I've played the DTD £300 3 times, mincashing once. I did a 4-way even chop for £4300 in the £200 at the Vic and came 5th in the Big Slick £300 for £1500. Not including the odd small tournament I've spent a total outlay of circa £2000 for a return of £6250.

Reason for staking

I'm hoping to buy my first property just after Christmas time so following the silly decimation of my roll playing too high and underrolled I can't use too much of my wages to do so. I also feel it'll be a little irresponsible of me to do so when I have shown a lack of respect for my own money. Doing this will keep me focused and disciplined.

Proposal

I'd like an initial bankroll of $3000 to play $25c/50c PLO. I feel 60 buy ins is more than sufficient for play at these limits. I will be playing up to 4 tables and all my play will be on blonde poker. The whole bankroll will be in there and Kev will be able to check my account on request to verify amounts and limits I'm playing. My screenname can be buddy searched at any time anyway - it's GreekStein. Anyone who knows me on here will know I'm completely trustworthy in that sense and if anyone was to have an element of doubt anyway please don't buy a piece.

I will update following every session on a separate thread.

The deal

I'm selling in 5% pieces or bigger in increments of 5% (i.e 5% = $150, 10% = $300). At the end of each month profits and rakeback (30% on blonde) will be added together and split 50-50 between me and the stakers. In the event of any losing month the next months profits will work on a makeup system so that everyone's share is going to end up at what they bought it for.

I plan on running this until Christmas but will do a review at the end of October.

Volume

I estimate I will be raking around $1k a month and my play tends to be very weekend heavy.

Monies

I will accept money by bank transfer or transfer on blonde.

It's just that when I deposited previously I deposited in GBP as that is what my Neteller account is in.

I have just unexpectedly deposited in USD which Neteller will convert at their(!) rate, I just do not understand how the currency of my account can change without my knowledge or consent.

£182 is approx $300, but if your account is in £ and wanting to transfer to Cos' $ you have to go to online support. If your account is in $ you can just transfer it yourself as previously said.

As Rooks has said, if your account currency is different to Cos' then you will have to contact support to facilitate the transfer.

Just finished first session.

First significant hand was when I raised AKQ3 otb and liked the look of the QKQ flop but it fit the bb's KKxx better and I lost one stack. I then got AA (albeit bad aces) all in pre vs 8899 and lost.

Was a little disappointed as I was determined to get off to a good start and was quickly down $120 but I trapped a guy with top set and a flush draw and got him to stack off with one pair and an open ended straight draw. After that pot I didn't get beat out of a single significant pot and won steadily.

Session total: +$57

If I was playing my own money I probably would have moved up the limits and tilted off a whole bunch but the fact I'm playing for everyone else as well as myself really made me keep focused make the best decisions at all times. Looking forward to plugging on with this. Session 2 later.

Session 3 was brutal, one numpty wanting to get it in with me on a KJ6 flop with AQ96, 9 high spades and getting there against my KKK.

Just finished a brutal session.

Lost top set vs a wrap three times and finished the session when I got  8c Jdxx in on a  7h 9d Tc 4h vs  9s Ts  Qc Jc and lost. I did misplay one hand which cost a buy in.

I know what PLO is like and not reading anything into it. Still getting used to a few stylistic differences between the limits I normally play.

Currently stands at -$185 with about $100 raked.

Without meaning this to be like the oracle's thread I just ran like dogshit. Should have won the world but can't be too disappointed. Won just over two buy ins.

+$105 for session. -$80 in total.

Gonna get something to eat and play another.

Played pretty much all day today to the point where I've kinda stopped blinking.

Was going disastrously, at one point we were down 12 buy ins. I played one hand badly which cost us a stack and made one misclick right at the beginning of a session which I literally never do and that subsequently cost me another stack.

At about 3pm I decided to have a look at some of the hands and realised I was playing a few too many hands oop and losing most of my 3-bet pots, though the latter mostly through coolers tbf. I did also get double suited aces in pre against bad kings and lose and flop two undersets.

I had one annoying hand where I raised the button pre with A345ss and got a caller from the BB. flop came 565 and I led as usual and got checkraised. I flat to get it in on the turn, which comes a King and also giving me a nutflush draw. Opponent sure didnt have KKQ10. gg.

Anyhoo...I think I've got used to the way the play is at lower limits than I've ever really played PLO at before and I can already see why the guys who did the blackbelt trial all hated it. I'm convinced the rake wins here moreso than at other limits but I'll be doing a few things differently to keep things going upwards.

Does anyone know how to convert ipoker hand histories so I can post them on the thread?

Last night I played 2 sessions. In the first I lost a horrible 400bb pot almost straight after starting with the nut straight and a flush redraw when donkey decided middle set was good to get about 20 pot bets on the flop. I proceeded to play too fast and with marginal hands, oop etc and was quickly down 6 buy ins. I quit and after a break came back for another session. Again I got off to a losing start and for the day was down like 12 buy ins. Sigh.

I got up this morning at 10am and grinded pretty much all day. By the time I finished and got changed to go to the gym...it was shut! Already 9pm. sigh. I didn't wanna post a bad result on here and was determined not to. I won about 10 buy ins so including rakeback we're now up overall. Gonna put a 3-4BI stop-loss on my sessions now so that when not on my game it can't hurt too much. Sometimes it's just hard to see the bigger picture and identify when you're pushing the action too much until after it's happened.

I've really sussed stylistic stuff at this limit now and I'm ready to batter it - I've just got to keep playing my A-game instead of my B-game which is a bit car crash at times. Its just annoying because really we should be infront by quite a bit now but i'll make that happen from now until the end of the month.

I'm back in to work this week so volume will be limited to an hour or two in the evenings but standings for the first 4 days are:

Got donked by two guys right at the end of the session.

One I had AQ43ds and called a 3-bet in position. Flop Q42 and I got c-raised all in. Obv snap and get counterfeitted by AA.

The worst was when I had  Aspades C5 7d 8s in the BB and 3-bet the huge tuna in the small blind's raise.

Flop  Ahrt 7s 6c.  He leads small and I put a pot bet in his eye. He calls with a bowl behind.  3s and he puts the rest in. Call obv and he has  4d 5d Td Jd and I miss the gajillion outs on the river.

Still won a couple of buy ins on the session but I'd expect I ran a lot below EV.

Hi mate, I shoulda made clear.

I don't have any table losses....I'm currently winning. The +$510 is how much I've won at the tables, so approx 10 buy ins up.

The $1015 is total rake at the tables. We'd get 30% of that back meaning the stake would be at around $3800 in total from the initial $3000.


On the whole it has been a little bit. Obviously less regs playing and more people donating thier hard earned but generally the standard is poor and now I've adapted to the style of these players I don't think it makes much difference.

Just had another decent session today although I'm not at all happy with how I played in a lot of spots.

I don't understand your rake figure tho'. If the total rake on the table was $1127 then you dont get 30% of that surely but $1127/N*30/100?

I'm not using a tracker....it's what blonde live support tells me at the end of my sessions.

Good question and something that I've mentioned to a few of my mates when kind of kicking myself for getting in to this situation and thought about a fair bit.

It came to the point recently where I thought to myself I may have to quit poker altogether because I can't manage a roll and have no discipline with money. It makes no sense that I won so many buy ins and grinded well at low stakes and then just constantly took shots and doing sillyness when I was losing, inc costly blackjack spews. In a way I was lucky to have a roll and stay in the game for so long. When I stepped back and had a look at things, I'd made a little chunk from live tournaments, a pretty nice wedge from live cash games and had beat up $1/2, $2/4 and a bit of $3/6 at a pretty nice rate. At the end of last month what did I have to show for all that? Pretty much Sweet FA.

This is something I've never done before and logging in time after time to never play higher than 25c/50c is really teaching me a lesson. Not only am I learning discipline but I'm learning to enjoy it. Slowly seeing that this way I'll make more money than before so in that sense I can't regret it. I also like that people are reading the thread and commenting on it etc which is prob helping more than I give it credit for.

I'm staked for live tournaments now but at the moment I'm thinking that cash staking will only be a short term thing before I feel comfortable enough with myself that I can play with my own $$ in the same way. I'm not sure though....maybe it'll be best to keep being staked.

Would something like the SAS scheme be an area worth looking at?

Just remembered one hand I had yesterday that almost put me on lifetilt....

I raise button with AKJ9 and get calls from both blinds. The flop comes 923 with two hearts, of which I have the bare ace. I bet about 70% of pot and BB calls. Turn comes the Q of hearts. I bet just under pot this time so that if he calls I can blast the river. River is the ultimate non-pairing blank, like the 7 of spades. Villain now leads out for 22 with 14 back.

Was sooooooo tempted to wait a few seconds and shove it in but there's too many donkeys who just snap there with bottom two that they are turning into a bluff that I just folded and obv wished****** a coupla times before leaving.

At these limits people just can't fold, you lose more than you win if you ship too regularly with the bare ace unless you know something about the player. Also lol about betting 70% of pot, you are a fucking potting machine, you nearly always bet pot are you sure tour right with 70%, ha ha..........

Thanks Alex - with my own money, whether running good or bad or playing good or bad there's no way I'd miss more than a day or two without play but I'm trying to get used to doing things right so that when I come to playing off my own roll in a few months I will have no problems.

Having said that, I did put in a small session last night (lol hypocriteaments) but only because I was feeling good. Ended up pretty breakeven with a small win of about $20.

Just lost a big pot right at the end of the session against a guy who made two horrible calls for his stack on the flop and turn in a 3 bet pot where I had 99JJ on a 962 flop. Was a 400bb pot too.

Still won a few buy ins.

Had an ugly session last night dropping 4 buy ins and then had a session today where I lost another 4.

So fucking tilted that the month is gonna end with only a moderate profit instead of a really good one that I might now play anymore today or tomorrow.

Just let it happen man there are no deadlines to meet.

I find it good to think about it as all being  one session so no stress is necessary.

I know fuck my life can't win a pot atm. Just over even again. Thank fuck for rakeback. If i hang myself be sure that Kev divides everything equally.

why not spend some time DLing and setting up HEM? it should suck in all the hands you have played so far and at the very least will give you some cool stats to think about and some pretty coloured numbers to look at on the tables.

After going to like just over -4 buy ins down overall I had a 'what the fuck are you doing you stupid hairy greek prick' moment with myself and grinded out a session tonight winning about 8 buy ins to put the stake back in the +.

Still disappointed as these limits are easy and the players are shite. I really should be winning at minimum 10bb/100. However, when I got to +$750 I just tried to make the +$1k month happen to quickly and was forcing things too much. I felt like a ran really bad in a lot of spots too, some I probably didn't need to be in either and I quickly dropped buy ins like they were nothing. Basically I was just playing far far too many hands.

In september I'm not going to be able to put in a huge volume due to other commitments and playing live but hopefully I can still rake about $1k and win 10 buy ins min.

Oh well, still a small win so could be worse. Just annoyed at myself. Just try and improve next month. By battle has always been with myself and my mindset a lot moreso than my game.

With our 30% rakeback I make that a total profit for the month of $640.

Over the weekend I lost mad ones of my own, in every way shape and form. Then when I played the stake I was playing like a dick and losing more. It took me too long to realise I was well off my game and shouldn't be playing in that frame of mind.

Just incase anyone is wondering - my own spews at the weekend were on boylepoker. I just feel I need to address this as anyone who doesn't know me well might question that I'd ever fuck around with stakers money. This is most certainly not the case - I'd not even think of it hence why I have given my blonde nickname out and why I made it clear anyone is able to ask Kev for a report on my play and the levels whenever they like.

I played on the blonde stake last night and won just over 2 buy ins, or $110, so including rakeback we're now slightly in profit for the month again. I'm focused and my head is good at the mo, so confident of going on a nice run over the weekend.

Finally back in profit for the month. Stake stood at something like $3330. Its written in the thread just cba to go back through.

We're now on $3404.

This does not include any of this months rakeback.

Felt almost embarrassed to say it last weekend after the blowup and bad play but the account was on $2700ish. I've ground it out hard this week and won about 16 buy ins to restore last months profit and bring us back into profit for this month of about $200.

No good in the donkament. Got it in with 70% equity for a biggish pot and got called by a dry overpair.

I hit my flush on the turn which hit his overpair and he then hit another on the river to make quads.

Hi bud, as of the beginning of this month, your stake was worth $330 because of last months winnings which were held. I withdrew mine to make it easier.

This month that will have gone up to around $400ish at a rough guess.

After last night's tourney and a teeny bad cash session account was on +$970 for the month. I played 45 mins tonight though and won just shy of 6 buy ins.

The highlight was 5 limpers on my bb. I have AA22 and don't mind raising OOP with this hand as I'm not gonna do much unless I flop a set/nfd etc but wanna juice the pot. Anyway all call obv and the flop comes 226. Oh, hi der. I check and so does the rest of the table. Turn comes 7 so I bet 4 as I wanna get some from people drawing or hope someone will get sticky with KK/QQ etc. Button minraises to 8 and I small raise to 14.50. He goes POT for like $50 and i jam. I know he either has 6's full or 7's full now and he turns over 77 and bricks. Ship the 400bb pot where about 190 of those bbs went in with him drawing to one out with one card to come. If only every hand was this easy.

Anyway, monthly total so far:

October is likely to be my last month on the stake before I look at what I'm going to do. Hopefully I can make it a good one.

I can play 9 just the same as I can 4, it's just now my computer accomodates it and before my laptop didn't. I's only upwards of 10 that I'd say I'd have to increase by 1 at a time.

As regards the profit, I very much doubt I'll ever have a losing month at these limits as the games are too easy.

Horrible start to the new month. I've had a couple of sessions where I've not played my best but been two outed twice, lost nut flush vs rivered straight flush, and one random hand where i lost top two vs no pair no draw that made a set.

I've got to work on cutting my session length maybe half an hour shorter as it often seems to be going well and right at the end a bunch always goes back.

Down 13 buy ins so far this month, which isnt as bad as the peak of 22 but im still disappointed to get off to a bad start. Raked $620 already this month mind.

Confident I will get into profit again for this month, just gotta stay focused and grind hard.

This week has been a proper grind, I haven't even really slept very much! Finally broken even for the month in terms of play, so I've won 22 buy ins throughout the week which I can. I still feel I'm playing rather sloppily though and have been quite spewy in a lot of hands that I wouldn't be normally. With a bit more sleep and energy this should improve.

First of all I blame Eck for putting ideas of spin ups into my head!!

Anyway, yesterday started with me playing on the stake and was up a little bit, probably only a buy in or so, but then I was a non believer and lost an 800bb pot where I had Queens full on an A Q 3 3 K board on one of the deep tables. Furious with myself as the guy had to have aces. I was quickly 5 buy ins and a wireless mouse down after I smashed the living shit out of it.

Took a little break and was a bit tilted to say the least. Decided to play some of my own dime on another site. Played a mixture of MTTs and cash and down to the last 30 in my MTT where I 4-bet all in with AQ against the chipleader (we both had huge stacks) and he called off 2/3 of his stack with AJ and got there. Steam was literally coming out of my ears. Didn't take long to iron out £2k at blackjack after that. Ahhh now I remember why I don't play at VC anymore.

So I wanna fire some more bullets but fk firing them to the VC c***s (diagf pls) so I load up blonde (where a ban on house games mean u won't get insta-unbanned upon request). Cut a long story short I won 3 buy ins at $5/10 PlO to get out for the day. I also can't find the piece of paper where I recorded what amount the stake was on after I lost 5 buy ins so I just decided to pretend I didn't lose any buy ins and let the stake stand on the $5783 it was before.

Will try and put in a session on the stake later today if I can plug another mouse into the computer and get it to actually work.

Had a sick one at $5/10 last night, 44xx in bb on 4 10 2 rainbow, chunk in on flop and the whole lot in on Q turn vs AQ107 and lose.

Managed to not tilt and just play my game, maybe with one speculative call which worked out well and I scooped to get to a 4-buy in win at $5/10 for the weekend to get out. Ok so last night I lose almost $2k within an hour or two of getting home and have $400ish in the account of my own money aside from the blonde stake.

I didn't wanna grind it so ask in chat if they can unban my blackjack. I either do it in and go to bed or in 3 hands I'm back. Chat say it'll need manager approval and 24 hours so I tell him not to bother sending the email as I'll regret it tomorrow. No choice but to spin. Sit with $400 and turn it into $2200 ish over the course of the night. By 3.30am I'm like $100 down for the day and relieved but shattered. Getting up for work this morning was not pleasant.

Really not sure if it's wise to play again on $25c/50c with the mindset I'm in. I wanna cash out tonight and have a few days off. I need sleep and to feel fresh for my $50/1 next month. I have additional money in the account obv so can pay everyone total profits to include rakeback to date and just take rakeback myself next month.
