The Mods are discussing the reinstatememt of the Post - subject to the removal of the personal flaming.

The OP, a Member for several days, has complained to me as to it's removal, & given me guidance on what Fora are for, & I have thanked him for his advice.

 

The Mods have now decided it can be reinstated, minus the personal flaming, & I shall communicate that to the OP.

as a lifelong liverpool fan,i am appaled and amazed to see steven gerrard doing an exclusive interview with news of the world,sister paper of the s*n.some of you may be aware that this arserag of a paper is despised on merseyside after the disgusting lies they printed in the aftermath of the hillsborough disaster.the day after hillsborough, the s*n decided to publish an article alleging that fans were stealing wallets from corpses,and urinating on the dead.do you believe that?i dont.having read his autobiography,and learning that his ten year old cousin,john paul gilhooley,died at hillsborogh,what the f**k does he think he is doing.one things for sure he is gonna kop some stick up in the pool.people will be fuming.anyway steve,enjoy the five grand,or whatever they pay you.buy something nice.i know times are hard for you these last few years.last word has been edited out at request of blonde.


i would like to add,for the benefit of anybody who is wondering why this would make me so angry,is that 96 people died.at a football match on a sunny afternoon.thats a lot of heartbroken mothers,sisters,fathers and brothers.not to mention all of their friends.

Why can't people debate a point of view without attacking the other person?  Attack their argument, attack their point of view - but don't attack them.  It actually lessens the effectiveness of your debate.  There's no need to bait people or resort to ad hominem attacks.


As for the OP, I'm a passionate Liverpool fan.  I don't read the s*n, and detest it on many levels.  But you cannot boycott the entire Murdoch empire if you like to watch any TV, in particular sport on TV.  Kelvin MacKenzie was in charge at the s*n at the time, and still contributes for the paper.  He is a vile individual in many ways and an ideal bedfellow for that rag.  He appears on BBC radio from time to time, so does this mean you'll also boycott the BBC because of their association with him?  I have issues with the supermarket's control and total domination of the retail market - but I still shop in supermarkets. 

You don't want Gerrard to talk to the NOTW?  What about talking to Sky reporters and presenters?  What about when he appears as a guest in the studio of a Sky broadcast - do you protest at that?  There was an outcry when Souness sold hs story to the s*n, especially as it was on the anniversary of Hillsborough.  This is quite a different thing. I'm sure Gerrard is sensitive to the feelings of the families of the 96, after all, he's one of them.

Maybe he was acting in self defence when he accepted the cheque ;)

Hatred against individual newspapers is usually irrational and I am just as guilty of this. Due to an article (that i can't even remember) I vowed never to buy NOTW again. I am sure the writer of said piece and the editor have moved on years ago, but I will still never buy it.

We were at war with Germany a while back but I still like a Bratwurst.

I don't read the Sun or NOTW coz they're wank. lol @ all the angry politics going on here.
