Title: Spurs v Liverpool
Post by: Matt.NFFC. on August 16, 2009, 02:21:14 PM
Got a sneaky feeling spurs might just win this one.  Anyone else share this view.

I'm on over 2.5 goals anyway at a skinny price in hope for a good game

I agree about the goal fest, can't see Spurs winning though.

Yes we've been awfu in pre season and Spurs have looked good. Gerrard isn't fully fit nor is Carragher or Skrtel and WHL is a bad place for us.

I also they Spurs have brought well this summer.

I had Lucas for first goal but didn't think Babel would play. He's been sensational in per season. A big year for him IMO.

Spurs deserve the lead so far imo, Liverpool look very mediocre.

Spurs deserved the win. Liverpool were dire.  Ryan Babel needs shooting.

good to see gomes back to his best trying to throw the game again. other than that spurs finally look like a decent team

Spurs deserved it totally and will be a decent side this season.

I do wish Rafa would drop Gerrard when he obviously isn't fit. He did it Vs Chelsea in the home leg of our CL quarter last season and we got humped and Essien looked better than he played. Benayoun is no Gerrard but he can do a decent job as he showed Vs Arsenal in the 4-4.

Babel was shocking. He has until Xmas or he'll be sold - simple as that really.

I feel sorry for Torres as he had no service from left or right either and playing through the middle into someone as good as King is just daft.

When Insua/Lucas/Renia is your best player you know you didn't turn up. Well done Spurs though - they will be very good at home again this season.

Against Pompey lasagne-gate season.

I still wouldn't swap Gomes for any other keeper in the EPL excluding Cech - although he hasn't been the same since his head injury.

Stonewall penalty but I don't know what Keane was doing after he missed 3 glorious chances in the first half.

I love Gomez, he is class. I hope he has a miserable time of it at Spurs and that he joins PSV again, he was superb for us and you lot don't deserve him IMO.

When he is good he is superb, when he is average he is a liability.

Have to get rid.

All of the Spurs team were better than their Liverpool counterparts on Sunday - with the exception of the keepers.

Torres to me looks like hes going to get injured 2-3 times a game. He keeps throwing himself into people and staying down. What happens if he is out for a lengthy period?

The same as last season I suppose, he started less than half the games...  Close but not close enough...

If we don't give him the supply, it doesn't matter if he's injured or not.  He can't score without the ball.

True to a certain extent,he just dosent seem to relish the physical side of the game like he did in his first season and the ball is bouncing off him more than i would like it too, obv im talking about last season not just the Spurs game, maybe he's constantly carrying niggles or whatever i dunno , but i would like to see him put himself about alot more and not stay down  if he gets kicked just get up and straight back in for some more, hopefully he will bang in a few against Stoke tomorrow to give himself a gee-up that i think he needs at the mo.

Nah, he was just pissed off playing for a crap side.

Thats what I'm saying, to me he shouldnt be pissed off  or at least should not be showing it on the pitch, i rather see players giving their all regardless of the overall team performance than moping around and been pissed off that sorta stuff is Ronaldos forte i dont want Nando going down the same route

I simply cannot agree with that. The guy looks like he's up for a ruck most of the time. Look at how he wanted to shove King after being tackled.

He was completely uninjured in his first season. Last year he was injured a lot (one injury was the same one three times) after virtually no pre season due to the Euro Champs win - any sports scientist will tell you that is related to his injuries.

Whispers that he's injury prone are way short of the mark imo.

Uh huh, you'd rather have him over the 23 year old 3 time EPL golden gloves winning Pepe Reina. Who got to 100 clean sheets faster than Ray Clemence. Of course you would.
