Title: Tricky river spot...
Post by: MC on August 18, 2009, 05:18:17 PM
$6.50 45-man tournament.

I think the buy-in might contribute to the decision. Note it's still early and have apparently chipped up a fair bit in the early going.

No read cos mass multitabling, but the guy shoving is playing 29/9 over 65 hands, and the shortstack in the hand is 54/15 over 13 hands.

I think I've played it pretty standardly til the river? Alternative is to fold pre, but I think raising is fine too.

What do we do on the river? I felt like I wanted to call, but could easily be up against a flush and 89 got there too. However, his overshove looks suss to me, perhaps he could have a worse 7 or be trying to buy the pot? I've got all my other tables beeping at me. What should I do?!

it is probably a 50 50 if you are multi tabling and cant be sure it is a call fold if you think you have an edge

Okie dokie.

What would your hijack/cutoff/button opening range be in the first 3 levels in these things?

Hijack, 66+, KQ+, AT+
Cutoff, 44+, KJs+, AT+
Button, 22+, QJ+, KTs+, A6s+, A8+

Something like that?

the value in these games isnt steeling at the first few levels its about gettin full double ups hence u need to play hands that give u the best chance of this. any hand u play shud be willing to be easily played with minimum risk.   all pots at 200/400 ante 25 is like gettin a full double up by just steeling the blinds so surviving until this level is very important but obviously if u get a good spot for a double up beofre the 400 bb then take it.
