Title: Preggers and poker Post by: littlemissC on August 19, 2009, 10:54:21 AM as some of you may know im 13 weeks pregnant and i was thinking that i might do a diary of how it is affecting me playing poker.
id not been playing much since i found out 6 weeks ago mainly due to me feeling pretty crap tbh.morning sickness was not only in the morning but generally most of the day.id also found that i couldnt concentrate mainly due to worrying that all was going to be ok with the scan. i had the scan on the 12th and i was 12 weeks and 5 days and baby is growing well..and so on to telling people, facebook ftw!!!! I went and played the £50 at dtd last saturday and felt good the only preggers problem i faced was the constant need to go to the toilet which is not ideal when deep in a comp. when down to the last 2 tables and 11 players left it got to the point where i felt like i was going to burst if i didnt go to pee soon, lol.obviously i was on the table of 5 and we also had the shortest stacks compared to the other table which meant the blinds came very quickly. i was surprised to find that there are still some gentelmen around nowadays and when it got to the point where i could hold it no longer the guys on my table all took extra long in folding so i only missed 1 hand.(thx trev turton for starting it)g anyway i ended up going out in 11th for no cash marv, but felt i had played better than i had for a while.well done to Thewy who took it down :-) it did get me thinking about how long id be able to keep playing live poker for what with the constant need to pee and ever growing bump that will soon be making its appearance.I dont think ive ever seen a pregnant lady playing and im not sure if it is a good idea or not yet. so i guess im going to use this thread to write down any thoughts about the difference it makes to the way i play. Thx also for all the best wishes me and Tony have recieved. Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: celtic on August 19, 2009, 10:58:34 AM Congrats to you both and good luck.
Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: Claw75 on August 19, 2009, 11:02:09 AM Bets of luck Fran. I would have really struggled to play in early pregnancy I think, with the sickness, constant need to go to the loo and just being so tired. 2nd trimester probably ideal time to play when those things should have calmed down a bit and you're not too big. I wouldn't worry too much about playing with a bump, plenty of non-preggers poker players with those! ;)
I saw Nicky Short round and about a fair bit in the spring and she looked like she was about 8 months gone, so presume she played right through her pregnancy. Anyway, a diary sounds like a great idea :)up Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: GreekStein on August 19, 2009, 11:10:29 AM Any thoughts on names yet Fran?
I've got some cracking suggestions if you need inspiration. Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: DaveShoelace on August 19, 2009, 11:13:44 AM Congrats to you both :)
It would be pretty epic if you made a big final and your waters broke. Can you imagine Kev and Rich trying to write that one up on the live updates. Good luck with it all, George has already claimed 'Ace' as a name btw Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: littlemissC on August 19, 2009, 11:17:19 AM boys name is locked up girls name no idea yet
definatly nothing poker related though thats for sure lol Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: GreekStein on August 19, 2009, 11:24:29 AM boys name is locked up girls name no idea yet definatly nothing poker related though thats for sure lol Tony suggested Popopapapopoalous to me on msn although I'm not sure that's entirely suitable. I was thinking Apollo if it's a boy, and possibly some variation of that if it's a girl. Maybe Apollonia or Apollette? Once again, congrats! Andrews a great name ftw! Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: mouth on August 19, 2009, 06:19:38 PM Congrats to you Fran, I wouldn't imagine being pregnant should make a difference to your game, when I was pregnant I pretty much carried on as before, despite having some pretty bad complications throughout. I think some women see pregnancy as an illness (you don't strike me like that) and tend to whinge about everything, making themselves feel worse with all the drama.
Don't worry about the bump - most of the guys at your table will have bigger bellies and no excuse :) good luck! Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: outragous76 on August 19, 2009, 06:35:23 PM congrats and GL

Its a wonderful time you have ahead of you and pregnancy shouldnt interfere with anything, as long as you dont treat it as an illness. Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: zelda on August 20, 2009, 09:57:45 PM LOL Red!
Sorry if you took offence missc I only meant that it shouldnt affect anything. You might have to miss a few hands to pop to the loo in the early and late stages, and maybe need a pillow for the small of your back during the latter stages also. Saying that with my last child I had the most horrid all over itching which made every task difficult - but hopefully that wont be the case for you... Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: littlemissC on August 20, 2009, 10:27:45 PM No offence taken

Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: littlemissC on September 19, 2009, 10:55:08 AM 18 weeks gone and it already feels like ive been pregnant forever lol.
the last 2 weeks ive sprouted a nice size bump and this week have felt lots of moving around from the little one. ive been playing loads over the last few weeks mainly cash at dtd which im up overall in but have been on some very swingy runs there.i chopped the comp last night(tony was in it too)so going to put a pennys away for a pram i think. im off to spain in a few weeks for 4 days with the other girls sponsered by TGF poker and Paul Jackson for the spanish leg of the betfred ladies tour.have to say i can never get going in these comps i dont know why but i cant. i was SO pleased for Kelly Jackson winning the last leg in Birmingham, she is deffiatly going to be one to watch in the coming years. other than that pregnancy going great, feel really good lately.im just a bit nervous that the little one may not be so little,Tonys mum had 5 kids all of a very good weight and my bump is aready bigger than i would have thought it to be now...maybe its twins :o! LOL preggers count 18 weeks and feeling gooooooooooooood ;D Title: Re: Preggers and poker Post by: littlemissC on October 10, 2009, 10:57:25 AM we are having a boy ;D
