Title: Can you see my website?
Post by: Dingdell on August 24, 2009, 04:09:07 PM
I've been updating and adding lots of bells and whistles to my website but there are some people who may have difficulty seeing it either becuse they are using a particular browser or because they're a little older and are not sure what they should be looking for. I'm saying nothing.

Anyway it would be really helpful if you could click onto the site and check the following for me;

1. Can you see/hear the message with me saying "hello blah blah blah" in the news section on the left of the page, there should be a cartoon figure mouthing the words but currently out of since - this is a work in progress.

2. if you click onto colonics - the basics via the links at the bottom of the main picture at the top of the screen (sorry couldn't think of the best way to say that) do you then get me saying hello again and giving some basic info about colonics?

The quality of both talkig bits needs improving i know but can you hear it?

If you have trouble acessing either of these pages (and you're not Tikay) please tell me what browser you're using - thanks.

Fine on Chrome.
One comment, i would of thought an actual video of you talking would be better than a cartoon character.

Working on firefox, so that is pretty much all bases covered.

yes agreed - that's the next step - I've done what's possible/available at this moment in time but video is definitely the next step. I'm learning as i go along - I'm learning about floating real life people on the site soon!

As it is the people in Northampton will be mesmerised by moving pictures.....

Ok - great - thanks - I had to check before contacting the server people that it wasn't a technical issue - i now realise it was a Tikay issue. Sigh.

Is there any way to stop you talking?

Trying to read some information and can't take it in because you are talking in the background?

Serious Q, not meant nastily.

LOL - do i need to make the 'stop me waffling by clicking here' bolder? Serious question.

Seems fine in Opera.

That video on the main page could probably do with a pause button though.

I would make it clearer how to stop the waffle, if I can't figure out how to make the sound stop I'm likely to just go to another site.

In Firefox your menu wraps around onto a second line.

You also seem to have a lot of text on your home page, it could be a bit daunting.

Ty - very helpful - believe it or not I've reduced it by about 50% already. I'll keep going!

I usually browse with sound off, so if you hadn't alterted in the OP that there was something to listen to I'd have probably just missed it. Rather than having the sound play automatically, why not have a play/pause button instead so people can listen to it if they want?

Good idea - I've seen it on others websites - trying to work out how to programme it on mine. I may be some time.

Uncalled for.

The Tabs don't exist on the PC's here at Feltham. We are on IE8 I believe.

You can always put the extra detail on another page and link to it. Those who want to read more can, and those that don't won't be put off.

Trace - another problem i've just noticed viewing on IE8. When I click the 'basics' bit at the top, I get you saying 'hello again etc', but the talking from the main page is still going on as well.

It's because the one on the home page is on every page so the basics page has them both.

worked fine . Although there is way way to much info there. I would recommend removing the reference to Jade Goody in the permanent make up section. Also I am not sure what the picture of you all at the top is supposed to say about your company or the experiance I can expect?

Just my honest opinion.

Still. Curious to know why? I don't have a website so I don't know, is it hard to correct spelling mistakes?

Will I loose weight from having a colonic?

If you are looking to loose weight colonics can be a great way of kick starting a diet.

Although many people do loose weight we can't guarantee it. Our best loss has been a stone, with an average loss of three to four pounds. However, if your bowel is dehydrated you may actually absorb water and put on weight, this will only be water weight though and should disappear as the body rebalances itself.

Often your discussions with the therapist, combined with the answers on your questionnaire, can tell us why weight loss isn't happening for you. Your therapist can then point you in the right direction, often a few small changes are all that is needed to help you.

We also offer nutritional and allergy testing which can can very helpful. An intolerance can cause the body to retain weight and by identifying intolerances and improving your digestion you may find weight loss a more achievable goal.

We offer a medically supervised weight reduction clinic for those wanting to loose weight using prescription only medicines.

If you would prefer to loose weight through a sensible diet we recommend The Body Chef. The bodychef freshly prepares, cooks, packages and delivers nutritionally balanced meals direct to your door.

Not at all. I sent you a pm asking where the mistake was - as my web site has thousands of words it was easier to ask you. I didn't get a reply. I was happy to wait until the spell check facility comes on next week as part of the hosting package upgrade. But thanks for now highlighting exactly where it is and for caring. :-) This is the Blonde community as it should be.

Perhaps I should also clarify that the hosting package has spell check at the moment but it's American English - the upgrade is to proper English. I don't use it at the moment as it's just a pain.

When I worked at The Sun they bought a spell check package for the computer system and it was in US English - cost a fortune - an absolute fortune - and was unusable. Credit to them - people may not like the paper but they still got their spelling right - spell check or no spell check!

Byronicacid - you may want to check with Bongo or whoever deals with it issues - as I definitely sent you a pm. And keep checking my website - I love free proof reading!  ;D

Yep i know - it proved so popular I ran out of the allotted number I bought for the first month! I've upgraded the package now so it will work but waiting for confirmation of the bank stuff going through before they'll activate it! I lolled - the free package was used up in a day! Just shows peeps love gimmicks!
