Title: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: Acidmouse on August 25, 2009, 02:31:11 PM I live on a quiet street, there are 3-4 young kids (ages 6-10) who are virtually always out playing footy, tennis or on their little bikes. I have sometimes played with them for a kickabout and there fine, well behaved and really polite. Occasionally the ball goes into people's gardens and its not an issue, well all apart from one bitch who decided its WW3 if the ball goes on her property. She called the police as the ball went on her lawn, community policeman came and interviewed the kids and familys and then the young lady who complained. Result is that no games are allowed on the quiet street. I am more than a fuked off this women who is in her twenties has ruined the fun for the kids in the street. What else are they going to do? stay inside play xbox360 24/7? Is it really a law that can be inforced? what can they possibly do if the ball went in her garden again? Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal. (balls move to right part of forum Post by: mckelinho on August 25, 2009, 02:51:22 PM I completely agree mate. Kids on my (quiet) street play footie all the time, hit the ball off my car (by mistake) etc but that doesnt bother me. I played footy on the streets when i was young and loved it.
kids should play footie in the street, old woman should be in homes Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal. (balls move to right part of forum Post by: Claw75 on August 25, 2009, 02:52:44 PM when I was a kid we moved to a house that had a nice green right outside. Was one of the reasons my parents chose it; somewhere for us to play, and there were lots of other kids around the same age as me and my brother. We had a miserable bugger of a neighbour though, and it wasn't long before 'no ball games allowed' signs were put up. He then got the arse when his dog ran out in front of one of the kids riding his bike and nearly got hit, and a couple of weeks later the old signs came down to be replaced with 'no ball games or cycling allowed'.
To this day I don't even know the neighbour's real name, everyone just called him 'grumpy'. Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: kinboshi on August 25, 2009, 02:52:52 PM Moved the thread for you :)up

Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: Acidmouse on August 25, 2009, 02:55:39 PM Thanks!
The person who complained is a young women who inherited the house from her granny, she lives alone and parks her bloody mini right in the middle of the street so its a pain to get around sometimes. No idea what her problem is, but I am tempted to egg her house the bitch. Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: gatso on August 25, 2009, 03:02:41 PM natural justice will prevail when the kids go off the rails as they can't play footy and end up robbing her house
Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: AndrewT on August 25, 2009, 03:05:56 PM Quote from: Highways Act 1980 161 (3) If a person plays at football or any other game on a highway to the annoyance of a user of the highway he is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine. Of course, if the kids are under 10 years old, they can't be charged with any offence. Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: EvilPie on August 25, 2009, 05:54:42 PM Sorry to be a stick in the mud but roads are for cars not kids playing football.
I don't care how quiet the road is they shouldn't be playing on it. Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: bobAlike on August 25, 2009, 06:24:22 PM Where i used to live the kids were playing footie on the road causing no harm to anyone. A road worker from the council was doing some work on the road marking up with yellow paint where the road was going to be dug up. The kids asked him to paint a couple of markers on the road to use as goal posts. As the road was going to be re-surfaced the following week he agreed. (nice chap)
One of the neighbours (not a nice chap) called the police and complained to the council the kids were threatened with an ASBO the nice man lost his job. Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: G1BTW on August 25, 2009, 06:33:26 PM In my last place the kids across the road used to play football in the street. To be totally honest, it was right pain in the arse and they made a lot of noise between 4-7pm. On the other side of my house was a football park, I guess they felt threatened there.
I was pleasant enough with them, actually never complained about the noise, I guess they forgot this when they got bored one day and stoned my greenhouse to death (one of them got a youth criminal record because of this, not that I shopped them, just the coppers being good at their job). Great for the kids to be able to have a kickabout and all, but if there had been a similar ban in my area we would have rejoiced. 3 hours a day, every day, you can hardly hear the tv for the din. Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: G1BTW on August 25, 2009, 06:37:32 PM Is it really a law that can be inforced? what can they possibly do if the ball went in her garden again? Ah but you see, this is where it's all gone Pete Tong. Back in the day, The authorities didn't interfere with kids playing in the street, but by the same token, they didn't interfere when you gave same kids a thick ear for making too much noise. Simples. Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: maldini32 on August 25, 2009, 07:09:13 PM That woman is a complete and utter dick. When i was at these kids age id spend most of my time playing outside, we had an old polish guy who's garden was the one garden u didnt wanna kick the ball in cos it was gg after that. He'd keep the ball and no one dared knocking on his door cos when he came out he scared the shit out of us. He never once phoned the police. I heard he sadly passed away a few years ago.

Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: Matt.NFFC. on August 26, 2009, 09:31:39 AM Reading this thread is winding me up a bit.
There are several kids who play football right in front of our house (and several others) cos we're in a cul de sac. My wife takes care of her garden and these little feckers occasionally miskick the ball busting a flower here and there, to the point where my wife was in tears saying "no one gives a shit or has any respect for other peoples stuff". Obviously directed at the parents. For me, I never played football in the street, always 50yds away on some grass bit away from cars etc The problem for me in our street is that we're surrounded by people/families who rent, and I just feel that this lot just aren't bothered about looking after their own stuff, so why would they give a shit if they're bothering the neighbours and trampling a few plants here and there. I'm only in my 30's but I was brought up to respect other peoples stuff and if my dad saw me "accidentally" kick a ball against a car, I'd be in, with a thick ear! For the record, I've got kids but when they're old enough to be in the street, there will be no football, end of! (and I love the game) I work hard, and I like a quiet life, and the noise of screaming kids and the sight of a football going through my flowers just breaks me to the point of wanting to commit murder! Rant over! Title: Re: Unreal - Playing footy in street now illegal Post by: mckelinho on August 27, 2009, 12:34:22 AM Reading this thread is winding me up a bit. Yours is a totally different situation so obv. you would feel differently. The kids do care and show respect but all they wanna do is play near their house so mum and dad's can make sure they safe. Living in a shitty rented area where no one gives a fuk is a whole new ball game.
