Bayern would be over the moon with that!  ;)

Rangers the weakest 2nd seeds?

Perhaps Alkmar or CSKA

yeah were deff weakest from pot 2. gutted tbh wanted to stay in pot 3 and have a chance of getting madrid /porto/ inter for a gd away game to go to

Dont know if defo the weakest. Agree thats it is between us AZ and CSKA. Would have liked pot 3 and hope to get Madrid but we now have a great chance of the knock out stages.

Bayern/Sevilla

Bordeaux

FC Zurich please :)

I really want to get Bayern because theyre off to a terrible start in the league and Van Gaal is under pressure already.  Plus if we get them then we automatically avoid Wolfsburg in Pot 4 who I think are the main team to avoid.

Im not too unhappy with our group.  The Romanian mob will hopefully be a bunch of diddys but other than that total unknowns.  Of all the pot 1 teams Id have said going by form Bayern were the worst and Id want them 1st but Bayern could still turn it on.  Sevilla are probably the next weakest team in the pot.  Dunno if we will get a result away to them but I dont see why we cant snatch a draw.  At home I famcy our chances against them and we played Stuttgart 2 years ago in the group stages and beat them at home then narrowly lost away.

If we can pick up the points in our home games and beat the Romanians away I think we have a great chance of going through.

Chelsea got a tough group imo, Man Utd should cruise through their group and I can see Arsenal with maximum points from 4 games and playing the kids in the last 2, its the weakest group I can remember.

If they'd put the British teams in a room and said - 'you pick the groups' this is pretty much what they'd have come up with.

The three monster 2nd seeds get put in the three groups that don't have any British team in, plus Rangers get one of the weakest top seeds.

Group A - Bayern Munich, Juventus, Bordeaux, Maccabi Haifi
Group B - Manchester United, CSKA Moscow, Besiktas, Wolfsburg
Group C - A.C. Milan, Real Madrid, Marseille, Zurich
Group D - Chelsea, Porto, Atletico Madrid, APOEL Nicosia
Group E - Liverpool, Lyon, Fiorentina, Debreceni
Group F - Barcelona, Inter Milan, Dynamo Kyiv, Rubin Kazan
Group G - Sevilla, Rangers, Stuttgart, Urziceni
Group H - Arsenal, AZ Alkmaar, Olympiacos, Standard Liege

Please, please let Eto'o score a Hat Trick into Barca, to show them they have made the biggest blunder in offloading him!

Im not actually looking forward to any of these games involving British teams, i like Man Utd v Barca and Real v Chelsea etc etc, but this years draw have not produced any mouth watering tie's apart from AC v Madrid and Barca v Inter

Rangers should easily qualify into Last 16 with that group, as should all 4 English.

I think Liverpool V Lyon and Chelsea V Athletico look tasty

some really weak teams in this years draw must make celtic missing out even more disapointing though the draw for them was a bitch

I think that Barca have the toughest job from all of the top seeds.

Very happy with the gooner's draw and as Andrew says all of the EPL team's seem to have done well.

It's the first round ffs all the big teams are meant to be kept apart, i don't know what else you were hoping for.
Ibra and Eto'o returning to old clubs aswell as Kaka going back to AC is pretty good for the first round.

Happy with Rangers draw in the Champions League but I always worry about being up against some Eastern European team I cannot pronounce.

Given the strength and financial clout of the English clubs along with the seedings you would expect the 4 clubs to qualify whoever they got.

Arsenal got a stonking group surpsrisingly 7/19 to win the group. I doubt that'll last long.

Man Utd got another good group and are 4/7 to win it which is also unlikely to last.

Liverpool are in a much harder group and 8/11 isn't appealing since they are in poor form and Lyon have spent 3rd biggest this summer.

Chelsea are to win their group and 8/13 again i would put much on it with 2 decent teams in the group.

Rangers must be in dreamland with their group and might not be a shoe in to qualify but they have a good shot if the squad holds up. (note to Tony lets give them a kicking on the 4th) ;)

The reason its the weakest draw in a long time is because the new playoff Structure in qualifying

It puts 2 good teams together in the qualifying e.g Arsenal celtic, fiorentina v sporting. So the small countries, who dont have a team in it all ready (eg Romania, cyprus, isreal, hungery etc) dont have to play teams like Arsenal and Athletico to get in. Means that Pot 4 will be really weak for years to come if they keep this qualifying structure

Rangers got a great draw. Dont underestimate that Romanian team tho. Look at Cluj last year, romanian football is on the up, they will be tough over there i reckon

I think it's meant to be like that to give weaker nations the chance to get stronger instead of shutting them out. The champions league is all about money and if you are from a big country with loads of tv fans you got/get more places.

Bring back the European cup.

The surprise team in our group will be Fiorentina. Out of the pot 3 sides they are the one I wanted to avoid the most. I really like them as a team and will be awkward to defend against.

Couldn't disagree more.

Arsenal (who were 4th) are playing 3 respective champions and will walk their group. That says it all.

you think they will walk it against Alkmaar, Olympiakos and Standard Liege???

Looks a very difficult group to me.

Arsenal are from a league who have had the maximum number of participants since the inception of the champions league. During that time Arsenal have qualified 12 times in a row (i think). This makes it easier for an experienced team to cope with and also there isn't the fear associated with teams who struggle to qualify every year.

Teams who are not regulars in the champions league also then struggle to sign the best players.

The champions league might be good to watch but it does limit the competition somewhat compared to the old european cup.

You'll be telling me it's right the German champions were in pot 4 whilst the runners up were in pot 1 and the 3rd place team were in pot 3.

It's run in a way to support money clubs even allowing for the amendments this year helping a little.

Yes.

Leige are good at stiffling teams. AZ play some good football and that'll be a great match to watch. But Arsenal not finishing top? Very unlikely.

It's obviously based around the big clubs and money, I cant deny this. And for the record I don't like the ranking system. And the German champions being in pot 4 is a perfectly valid point.

But it's a whole other argument to "Arsenal shouldn't be in the competition and the Hungarian/Kosovan/whichever champions should".

Yep, bad result for Liverpool. Will still qualify.

Can't understand why Naismith dived when it was easier to score @ 0-0. Rangers fans must fuming at him?

Fiorentina were organised and have some good players but they are weaker than the English champions league teams. Probably more Everton/Spurs standard. The first goal was simply bad defending 3 defenders hold a line and 1 makes that line useless.
