Title: A couple of line checks... Post by: MC on August 27, 2009, 04:00:27 PM Really basic hands. These are from $16 18 man SNGs...
This seems to occur a lot, the big blind donk betting when 1 overcard hits. Sometimes I raise, sometimes I call, sometimes I pass. I think raising can commit too many chips, folding seems too weak, and calling leads to double barrels fairly often. What's the best option generally? ***** Hand History for Game 32113478159 ***** (Poker Stars) Tourney Hand NL Texas Hold'em - Thursday, August 27, 02:43:06 ET 2009 Table 190492595 2 (Real Money) Seat 9 is the button Seat 1: davidorti007 ( $2300.00 USD ) Seat 3: Kairbek ( $1390.00 USD ) Seat 4: 010108 ( $1470.00 USD ) Seat 5: p5walther ( $1200.00 USD ) Seat 6: epitomised ( $1470.00 USD ) Seat 7: ronajane ( $2390.00 USD ) Seat 8: steamer111 ( $1570.00 USD ) Seat 9: Mierzwus ( $1710.00 USD ) davidorti007 posts small blind [$15.00 USD]. Shove disguises strength of our hand a bit, but the only problem is he needs like 99+, AQs+ to call I think (but I guess donks might call of lighter)... ***** Hand History for Game 32114514988 ***** (Poker Stars) Tourney Hand NL Texas Hold'em - Thursday, August 27, 03:22:04 ET 2009 Table 190496495 2 (Real Money) Seat 3 is the button Seat 1: epitomised ( $2315.00 USD ) Seat 3: maradonamiri ( $1180.00 USD ) Seat 4: SSlyboots ( $1600.00 USD ) Seat 5: snooperic06 ( $3570.00 USD ) Seat 8: Mathmos111 ( $3805.00 USD ) SSlyboots posts small blind [$100.00 USD]. snooperic06 posts big blind [$200.00 USD]. ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to epitomised [ Qs Qc ] Mathmos111 raises [$600.00 USD] epitomised raises [$2315.00 USD] maradonamiri folds SSlyboots folds snooperic06 folds Mathmos111 folds epitomised wins $1715.00 USD epitomised wins $1500.00 USD from main pot Title: Re: A couple of line checks... 2nd hand, shove, only got 11 blinds, hes basically getting 2-1 (call 1715 to win 3215) pretty sure hell call u wider than u think Title: Re: A couple of line checks... Post by: Longy on August 27, 2009, 04:34:07 PM Yep both look good to me.
Title: Re: A couple of line checks... Post by: keilan303 on August 27, 2009, 04:41:38 PM As much as I hate open folding UTG I would only be calling you with two or three hands there, unless he has you for a mug, I don't think you're going to risk bubbling against the chip leader when two guys are getting short (well....) so on the whole I think shoving Queens (or ATC!) takes down that pot almost every time.....the rest of the time you're racing and you're ahead most likely
In the first hand....I usually limp Jacks (probably bad)...BB's play makes me believe he is the type who would raise a weak ace from BB, I'd call and look to fold to any overs if he doesn't check at least once... as played I think calling the flop is ok as opposed to raising as he might have to check the turn, or if you hit the jack you will probably get loads of value if he likes to keep firing....I hate these hands though and lose far too much with them early doors. Anyone just flat out fold the jacks up front and wait to play something from better position? (No i wouldn't either..) |
