Fairly straightforward... Im thinking of having a weekend away with some friends...
Criteria.... needs to be near a card room that has a decent selection of tournements on friday saturday and sunday with a max buy in of £50... also needs to have cheap but cheerful accomodation near by.. if they havea discount for players so much the better.. anywhere in the UK.. my two places i'd like to try would be Walsall and Glasgow... any reports or views on these two ........or better suggestions ...

I can't comment on Walsall or Glasgow, but Brighton could meet your criteria?

aberdeen speak to kev about hotels

It depends on what you are planning to do over the weekend.  A weekend Walsall wouldn't be my first choice. 

The Broadway in Birmingham is an excellent place to play.  Friday night's £20 RB usually makes around £6k and normally gets 90 runners.  Saturday's £30 DC freezeout usually makes 4k and normally gets 140 runners.  It is  also very central for pubs, clubs, and resturants. 

Newcastle obv,hotels all over the place 3 cardrooms 2 are pretty tez but tbf you ain't guna find many "decent comps" for under 50 quid that i know of mbn if it does exist and i think everyone knows about the nightlife,enjoy :)

Broadway in B'ham will look into ...good for hotels ...
Aberdeen... hadn't considered that ..travel may be an issue... I understand that there is a glut of high quality hotels in Aberdeen that specialise in exposed wires and holey doors..
And brighton as well will look into that ...
One of our group plays regularly at Newcastle when up there on ...ahem...Business.. 
any more ideas?

Dublin (not so cheap now though), people and poker are great.

aberdeen has losts of high quailty rooms at discounted prices at weekends as the oil firms only want them during the week
so the weekends are reasonably priced
travel is great with cheap flights from all round the uk with easyjet and flybe

Ibis Hotel next door to the Gala in City Centre Bristol.    Two games Friday, three Saturday and two Sunday with loads of cash action on the side.   Ibis will be £50 for a night and the tournaments are all £ 10 and £20 (some with rebuys and addons).  If you fancy a night out, you are waterside at the Harbour so loads of options.

Go  to Aberdeen, I have never experienced such superb customer service from a casino anywhere in the UK.

Bournemouth is pretty decent more for nightlife than poker obv.

swansea, cracking night out they have a £20 rebuy on fri i think and sun a £100 f/o hotels are a few doors down from casino and i havent seen such a close concertration of pretty girls in one town before.

Cracking night out definitely and there's never been any doubt about the abundance of pretty girls, this time of year irrelevant of the weather tons of them go out in little more than their underwear/swimming costumes.

I'm not sure about those tourneys though, friday 35 freezeout >100 runners, 25+1 on a saturday with a 4pm start so you can still make the bars for a reasonable hour if you lag it up and sunday 20 freezeout >100 runners. Grovsenor seemed to have a pretty confused schedule at the moment and the fields are getting smaller and smaller. 

Nottingham?

I believe there's a rather decent poker venue there.
