Title: wrong to shove?
Post by: Revolt on September 11, 2009, 10:50:57 AM
final table of a live £20 game... 5 left, 3 paid..... ive been up and down like a yoyo catching good hands and playing them very aggresively....

blinds are 1/2k with 400 ante

im in the BB with  Qc 5s and the SB calls me, now she has been tight all night and with a good hand would have raised ..... i figure she must have some sort of drawing hand so i shove all in for almost 30k

she tanks for 3-4 minutes and i know she just cant call me, everytime ive pushed ive shown AA, KQs, AQs etc....

i just dont think for a second she can call me, after a minute she looks at her watch and calls

i know instantly im caught with my hand in the cookie car and just feel sick to my stomach, my first bluff all night :/

she flips over  Jd Td

binks the 10 on the river obviously.....

i guess it was a bad push but i hadnt been defending my big blind most of the night (always caught utter crap) and she gave me no respect what so ever....

Nah seems fine to me given your read, I do this all the time normally they fold or show kk+.

Sorry guys, but shoving 15 bbs in a 20 live donkament is neither standard or necessary in the blinds. On line this play is fine but in this spot not so much so. Im not saying it is wrong but it is far from standard. Also if hero has been aggro, he def shouldnt be making the play with atc

This play has more chance of success live then it does online. Obv he didn't factor in the time of night when she made the call but at the end of the day hero was winning even when she did clal!

I agree. You can flick out any small bet post flop when she checks and take the same pot down. If you can very easily win the pot by risking 10% of your stack why try and win it by risking 100%. You have position on a predictable player who is never going to make a play for the pot yet you want to test her spite calling skills instead. The lady we are playing looks at her watch in order to make her decisions. People cannot say normal rules apply here with any confidence.

it is even more of standard shove live than it is online vs this opponent
