Title: Fairy Tale stuff.....
Post by: tikay on September 11, 2009, 02:15:22 PM

Poker PR gets curiouser & curiouser, even Alice would be taken aback by this nonsense. But it's the done thing these days I guess.

PARTYPOKER.COM IN THE SKY AT NIGHT!
DENMARK ’S HIGHEST GAME GETS UNDERWAY AT 17.00 CET TONIGHT

11th September 2009 -- partypoker and Ace Magazine have teamed up to create Poker in the Sky, which gets underway in Copenhagen at 17.00 CET to tonight! Poker in the Sky literally rises above everything that you've seen before on the Danish poker scene! Floating high above the Town Hall, surrounded by Copenhagen and the spires of the city 22 poker players will play against two local celebrities with town hall-doves as the nearest spectators!

The 22 poker players will be hoisted 50 metres in the air by a crane at City Hall Square in Copenhagen . Hovering over the capital the poker players will compete against each other in a 4 hour long poker tournament. One player who will not be taking part is WSOP Europe bracelet winner and Danish poker hardman Theo Jorgensen, who pulled out this week due to a fear of heights!

A spokesman for PartyPoker said: “It’s nearly time to call shuffle up and deal 50 metres up! The game gets underway in daylight but it looks highly likely we’ll need to use the floodlights as it will become PartyPoker in the Sky at night. This will be quite some spectacle!”

Two of the 22 seats around the poker table will be occupied by two local celebrities, with a group of online qualifiers taking part. They qualified through a special promotion.

The 22 poker players will not only have a great view of Copenhagen , the winner of the game will scoop a package for the PartyPoker World Open V in London in October. The line-up at this prestigious event includes ‘Ambassador of Poker’ Mike Sexton and Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan. The Danish winner of the PartyPoker Poker in the Sky wins flights, hotel and a $10,000 buy-in for the tournament in London , which will be broadcast on television worldwide.

I suppose nothing should surprise us these days, but the PR peeps live in their own little world, & I have to admit, just as some folks think DB really did predict the Lottery Result, there are some folks who actually fall for this kind of thing.

Whatever next - HM the Queen, or Tony Blair, helping Hellmuth to rev up the start of a Poker Tourney?*

* For Daily Mail readers, I'm joking, it will never happen. ;)

Believe this was already been done by Betfair last year - better location?/ better line up possibly - John Tabatabai (photos), your fellow sky presenter  Matt Broughton and Annette someone or another ;)
