The Cure - 3 tracks. Scissor Sistors - 1 track. Eminem - 7 tracks. Dire Straits - 4 tracks. Aerosmith - 5 tracks. The Red Hot Chillis - 2 tracks. Johnny Cash - 3 tracks. ELO - 3 tracks. Robbie - 4 tracks. Rinse, repeat, ad infinitum. But if I had to listen to Morrisey, I'd rather take up gardening. Title: Re: poker music Post by: bundle on December 08, 2005, 12:24:36 AM Love the CURE. reminder to add to my tracks....Cheers.
I also listen to the stones, Dido, Clapton. Do any of you think it changes your mood for the game? Title: Re: poker music Post by: tikay on December 08, 2005, 12:40:53 AM Oddly enough, YES. Especially Mr Blue Sky (ELO), & "Rocket to the Moon".

Title: Re: poker music Post by: tikay on December 08, 2005, 12:55:53 AM Eminem? say it isn't so Give him a chance Red, & listen carefully to the lyrics. He's undoubtedly a nasty piece of work, but hugely talented as a lyricist. Hugely talented. Title: Re: poker music Post by: Nem on December 08, 2005, 01:02:55 AM I wouldn't say he's a nasty piece of work either. You don't even know him.

Quote Gonna take a rocket to the moon, Be leaving any day soon, And my tears will fall as rain, On your window pane...... Oh oh oh oh oh. Turn it in! your giving me curly ears ;tracet;lmao Title: Re: poker music Post by: tikay on December 08, 2005, 01:09:37 AM No, I don't know him, so maybe he's a nice guy, but I don't think so, his lyrics suggest otherwise. Some of the things he writes, particularly about his Mother, are too awful, but he writes them in an extraordinary way. Someone who writes about their Mother in such terms is a nasty piece of work in my book. I don't think Lennon was a nice guy, & I never knew him, either. But those two guys could write better than almost any other songwriter of their era. So I don't wanna befriend either of 'em, but I'd listen to their lyrics night & day. Title: Re: poker music Post by: Nem on December 08, 2005, 01:13:31 AM There was no need to say "hes a nasty piece of work" just because Red questioned your taste in music.
Title: Re: poker music Post by: RED-DOG on December 08, 2005, 01:23:32 AM There was no need to say "hes a nasty piece of work" just because Red questioned your taste in music. Just as a debating point, on the premise that you have to have a good reason to say something before you can say it, what need does Eminen have to say the things he says? Title: Re: poker music Post by: tikay on December 08, 2005, 01:28:56 AM Why not? It seemed relevant to me. I like his music. I don't think he's a nice man. I buy his albums. I don't buy him. I play his stuff non-stop. I'd not welcome his company. Mr Mathers is not the sort of man you can sit on the fence about. Love him or loathe him. I loathe him, but love his music.
I see nothing wrong with that view. If I don't express it, I'll still think it. It's not really anything to do with Red questioning my music tastes, it's simply a comment. Because, say, Paul Gascoigne was an absolutely awesome footballer does not mean I have to think he's a nice man. I lved his football talent, & loathed his off-field antics. Alex Higgins, The Whirlwind, ditto ditto. Title: Re: poker music Post by: RED-DOG on December 08, 2005, 01:32:34 AM You don't like the whirlwind? Say it isn't so....
Title: Re: poker music Post by: tikay on December 08, 2005, 01:43:12 AM The Whirlwind. Off the table? No, I don't. And I DO know him, though not well, but well enough. I played him when he was still a school-kid - corrrection, when he was still school kid age - he was never a school kid as such, because he bunked off every day. But an extraordinary talent ON the table.
He can cope without my admiration off-table. And he gave me a 7 black start - that's 49 points - & beat me 123-54. Of the 5 points I scored, 4 came from an in-off by him, & I fluked the only red I potted. Title: Re: poker music Post by: ifm on December 08, 2005, 01:54:58 AM Mr Bluesky, a classic (especially as it's about BCFC :) )

It seems a lot, but the problem is all the reds are still on the table, it's not like you have scored 50 and half the balls are down
Big Bill Werbernuick (RIP) used to play me left handed off level when he was sober and right handed off 50 after 17 pints of lager He was unable to play right handed sober because of a tremor in his shoulder I never play at all now because I can't play every day, without regular practice I'm usless and it annoys me [attachment deleted by admin] Title: Re: poker music Post by: Trace on December 08, 2005, 11:22:31 AM Eminem? say it isn't so Give him a chance Red, & listen carefully to the lyrics. but hugely talented as a lyricist. Title: Re: poker music Post by: NoflopsHomer on December 08, 2005, 04:19:28 PM I listen to "Break 'Em All Down" by the Soledad Brothers. It's a rocky-bluesy track about poker.
I'm a gamblin' man, like to gamble yeah, got another deal, well got another dare. Can't stop gamblin', 'til I break 'em all down. Can't stop dealin' 'til I break 'em all down. Momma she ain't home, Pappa he ain't here, break 'em all down boys, you're behind the drivin' wheel. Can't stop gamblin, 'til I break 'em all down. Can't stop dealin' 'til I break 'em all down. Alright, let's break 'em all down boys. "Well, one-eyed jack," said the ace of spades, "I'll steal your queen, boy and I'll lay it on your grave." Can't stop gamblin, 'til I break 'em all down. Can't stop dealin' 'til I break 'em all down. Break 'em all down now fellas. Anyone want a copy, give me a shout. ;) Title: Re: poker music Post by: HarlemShuffle on December 08, 2005, 04:29:39 PM ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Eminem is great at what he does no doubt. However he only puts himself 10th of all time rappers. I dont think he's the "best" by any means. He is still an ass though. Tikay did you say you don't like Lennon? Title: Re: poker music Post by: Nem on December 08, 2005, 05:22:58 PM I prefer Jay-Z more than Eminem.

he sings about his experiences in life. i also think with dr drey as his agent/mentor, its incredible how he has not went down the road of **** this and **** your mother and my ak 49 and im a pimp and i got hoes ....etc road. he is good but my opinion is there is too much hype around him. i wouldnt buy his records but id download them for free........:) Title: Re: poker music Post by: Scottish Dave on December 08, 2005, 08:24:01 PM well at present, im playing and listening to 'Twisted Sister' - 'I wanna Rock'!!!!

What hacked me off was after his murder - which truly shocked, hurt & saddened me - he suddenly became a wonderful person in the eyes of the media. He was NOT a wonderful person. He WAS a wonderfullly talented - perhaps one of THE most talented ever - artist. I admired his work greatly. I did not admire him. It surprises me that so many folks seem to believe that because someone is good at their "trade," be it footballer, snooker player, musician, even poker player - then it follows that they are a good person. It does not. Or vice-versa. Do we have to admire, say, Gazza, as a person simply because we admired him as a footballer? Not in my book. I saw Gazza at a footie do (after dinner speaker) and he drank water all night but chain smoked cheroots/cigarettes all night. Now he was defo on water (we know the organiser) but he did have the shakes/slurred voice etc. very much the Ossie Osbourne type thing.
