Southgate has always been a useless manager...Borough wouldn't have been relegated last season with a decent manager in charge and it's amazing that they kept him on (even after his first season in charge)

With any other chairman he would have been sacked 6-9 months ago

Admirable in a way, but he's defenceless if they don't go straight back up

He's bought very well while also balancing the books this summer.

West Brom are easily the best side in the division, granted that doesn't justify losing 0-5 at home to them.

Newcastle are also a better side,as are Sheffield United,so Boro will more than likely have to take their chances in the playoffs so I think it;s unfair to say he is defenceless if they don;t go straight back up this season.

I don't know why but I quite like Southgate and I know Wenger rates him. Obviously if the chairman wasn't Steve Gibson he would have been out the door earlier in the year and Gibson is one of the few chairman who probably shows too much loyalty.

I honestly still think boro might go up automatically with West Brom, not convinced by Newcastle or Sheffield United.

I like Southgate as a maneger too and it's a bit too early to write him off.
