Title: Incoming from....... Post by: tikay on September 29, 2009, 06:13:58 PM ....Paul Zimbler, & it's that rarest of rare things, a Press Release direct from the subject of the Press Release. It's from Paul Zimbler, & says.... UK poker pro Paul Zimbler faced US legend Doyle Bronson in the first contest of his gruelling 78 hour 25 min Heads Up Guinness World Record Attempt. Taking place at the World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair, the unique World Record attempt is being staged in aid of the Make a Wish Foundation and Sparks children’s charity and aims to raise over £50,000. Playing in the Casino at the Empire leister Square Paul took on a staggering 190 players continuously over the 78 hrs and went head to head with members of the public and a range of celebrities and high profile poker pros including Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, Phil Hellmuth, Huck Seed, Neil Channing, Jesse May, Devilfish, Robert Williamson III, The Hendon Mob, Annette Obrestad, Roberto Romanello, Michael Greco and November 9 Finalist James Akenhead. It does not actually say how much money was raised for the Charity, but no matter, every penny helps, & for that, well done him. Oddly, the Press-Release rider says this..... Attached is a press release. It is imperative that you use this photo. Why? No idea. It's just a regular photo, with Paul wearing his "TIPS" Logo. So, being old & obdurate, & somewhat tetchy today, I decided not to use the photo. Being edgy is not the sole province of kidz, you know. But if the Charity benefits by us using the Photo, I'll Post it. Lots of times. Title: Re: Incoming from....... I lol'd at this one, my release didn't even have a pic of Paul on, I thought imperative was a funny use of words, very serious, especially because by nature of a press release you are allowed to use and dismiss whichever parts you see fit. I wonder if something bad would happen if we used a different picture? On the subject of the sender of press release also being the subject, I am desperate to one day win a big tournament, just so I can interview myself. I also would love to represent myself in court, although that could go horribly wrong. Also I would have to actually win something for the first one, and commit a crime for the second one, so could be a while. Title: Re: Incoming from....... Title: Re: Incoming from....... Post by: tikay on September 30, 2009, 11:51:01 AM Paul Zimbler re-sent that Press Release - about himself! - again today, & added a bit about the Charity. Here's the extra bit. When he says "Paul Zimbler commented", he is talking about himself! PMSL, really. Paul Zimbler commented: “While my main motivation was to raise as much money for charity as possible, it will be great to take on some of the biggest names in world poker on the way to establishing a new Guinness World Record.” Poker players and supporters wishing to get involved in the action or show their support should visit http://www.justgiving.com/Paul-Zimbler0 to make a donation and help Paul Zimbler reach his target of £50,000. I wonder how much he Raised? It does not mention that. I really have a bee in my bonnet about charity stuff being sooper-dooper transparent. P4C taught us all a lesson. Title: Re: Incoming from....... Post by: tikay on September 30, 2009, 11:59:51 AM if you click the link it will show you how much has been raised, via that medium at least Thanks Claire, my apologies, never realised that. I'm a bit confused though. The Press Release says the Target is £50,000, whereas the WebSite says...... Target: £25,000.00 It seems that so far the amount raised is £1,842.22 Well that's something. Well done him. Title: Re: Incoming from....... Post by: Claw75 on September 30, 2009, 12:00:49 PM I think it said on there that Betfair are going to match whatever he raises, hence the £50k target

Title: Re: Incoming from....... Post by: TightEnd on September 30, 2009, 12:03:30 PM I believe substantial sums were raised at the venue from players, as Paul played
I think I read that £65,000 had been raised, including the matched contribution of Betfair Title: Re: Incoming from....... It's a shame that the Website only says £1,800 though. Title: Re: Incoming from....... Post by: booder on September 30, 2009, 04:58:56 PM so Zimbler >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Flushy then
