OK thanks, just surprised as it was such a fabulous event Title: Re: Killarney Post by: TightEnd on October 06, 2009, 10:33:02 PM tell us about it
Why was it fabulous? Who ran it? etc etc Title: Re: Killarney Post by: Laxie on October 06, 2009, 10:35:57 PM Yep I was there, what work were you doing? and 'No, there weren't, sorry' any reason for this? Well we deffo ran into each other so, because I was working the tourney cash desk with Connie and his daughter. Well funny enough I NEVER play cash but after a dodgy meal stopped me drinking and the STT in the bar was never going to end, I decided to invest 100 euros, I'm sure it was you who cashed me up for 630 an hour later! Not sure what night, they all merged into one! Title: Re: Killarney Post by: Laxie on October 06, 2009, 10:46:21 PM Wasn't working the cash room desk. Strictly tourney reg right outside the main poker room, so it deffo wasn't me.
Title: Re: Killarney Post by: Laxie on October 06, 2009, 10:49:00 PM Did hear the cash games were insane though!!! lol Scandies were betting mad with air for fun - pre flop! I know a good few who made a fortune over the week-end.

comps were awesome structures and very well ran, cash games were ran ok but had pretty dreadful facilities (tables, chips, chairs etc). the hotel was grubby to b polite, felt like moving when i walked in, not dirty in a horrible way but old looking. the hotel didnt offer wifi except for in the lobby of the hotel which was a dreadful connection which i found disappointing. overall the tournament was very well ran and well sponsored but the facilities were meh! I've heard a few moans about the hotel but must say I found it really quite good, anyone who thinks otherwise obviously didn't drink enough!! And the cash games.....seriously thinking of going over next year, not playing the main event and treating it like 3 days work! Title: Re: Killarney Post by: Laxie on October 06, 2009, 11:13:53 PM The Lakes of Killarney Festival is on in January. 15th - 17th. Exact same structure and buy ins, organised by the Cue Club on their own. Gets over 200 runners and apparently it's a great week-end too. I'll be working that one as well.

I know a good few who made a fortune over the week-end. FYP Everything 810ofclubs said was basically spot on. The food was shocking and overpriced the rooms were very dated an worn. Overall though the quality of the events made up for it IMO (Just wish I could learn to run better when we get to 3tables FML) Title: Re: Killarney Post by: #1Instigator on October 07, 2009, 03:35:30 AM tournament and cash game organisation was excellent. Night out was brilliant!
Everything was over-priced, but that's ireland for you. Sad coz didn't get time to go see the beautiful surroundings... Title: Re: Killarney Post by: Kev B on October 07, 2009, 06:44:42 PM I think we were the lucky ones as our room must have been part of a new wing or recent refurb, it was fairly decent. I agree though some parts of the hotel needed a little work. Busted in last level of main event running AQ into QQ on a Q high board. Decided to sink a few Guinness and Jamos on day two before playing the €150 busting 16th for €400. All in all a fantastic weekend in a beautiful part of the country. I'll post a couple of pics in a minute.
A big THANK YOU to LAXIE for being a great host to me and Joo. We had great fun in your company Dawn. I only wished we had played the comp with you on the last night because the planned day in Cork was a complete wash out. Still only a small blip on an outstanding trip. Looking forward to the next Title: Re: Killarney Post by: Laxie on October 07, 2009, 06:55:03 PM Was lovely to meet and spend time with ye, just chilling out. Really and truly.
Sorry Cork City was a bust. Had kicked around going up with you, just so you'd get there ok and even show you around a bit but I'd have been no good to ya on Tuesday so I'm glad I didn't suggest it! After you left, the night went like this: Drinks in pub til 9:30 followed by mad dash to card room across the road. Tourney kicked off around 9:45. Got bad beat and was out at 11:30. Was in the Grand by 11:45 or 12. Home to Knocknagree for....wait for it...10:30 Tuesday morning! rotflmfao So you were probably better off in the end. How was dinner?
