Title: ACES Post by: Monsieur Frenchy on December 08, 2005, 05:18:01 PM I hate them!!!!! I have lost the last 5 times i have been dealt them. Each time i have been all in after the flop against 1 player for a reaonsable amount, 2 called by second pair that turns into trips, twice by a pocket pair that turns into a trips and once by a backdoor flush!!!!!!!!! what can you do?? I haven't played them badly??

Title: Re: ACES Post by: smithy69 on December 08, 2005, 05:23:00 PM frenchy i kid you not but i always fold aces preflop, and if anyone bets after the flop i fold
only play 7 4 and you will be making big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Title: Re: ACES Post by: AdamM on December 09, 2005, 10:24:46 AM frenchy i kid you not but i always fold aces preflop, and if anyone bets after the flop i fold i REALLY hope you're joking >:? Title: Re: ACES Post by: Triple X on December 09, 2005, 11:46:43 AM amazing as it may sound - aces are not 100% proof to hold up. The mathematicians will correct me but they are at best around the 80% mark so 1 in every 5 times they will get cracked. If you have the lost the last 5 times then that is unlucky but then you might win the next 20 and over the long run these stats will hold up.
And - in that period, i bet you cracked Aces on at least one occasion! Title: Re: ACES Post by: AdamM on December 09, 2005, 11:56:26 AM i wonder if 'properly played' AA is higher than 80%? surely thats based on all in pre flop basically. I wonder what percentages are for crap shoot / deep stack / HU only / etc. anyone with good records care to help?
Title: Re: ACES Post by: ifm on December 09, 2005, 12:10:03 PM 8 10 offsuit will beat Aces roughly 16% of the time, what exactly is "properly played aces"?
My attitude towards them is "if they get beat, they get beat....i'm still gonna try to get all of my oppos chips". Title: Re: ACES Post by: AdamM on December 09, 2005, 12:43:29 PM you know what I mean don't you?
If you limp into a family pot with AA you'll get beat more often than if you raise 4x BB the calculations are based on HU all in. I think what I'm actually saying is a good player should expect to win a lot more often with AA (or any other hand) than a bad player Title: Re: ACES Post by: AdamM on December 09, 2005, 12:46:39 PM thats not aimed at frenchy
Title: Re: ACES Post by: HarlemShuffle on December 09, 2005, 01:47:32 PM If you got dealt aces every hand you wont go far wrong!
Title: Re: ACES Post by: Longy on December 09, 2005, 01:58:29 PM In theory i think you should win more with aces than 80% mainly because you should get everyone to fold pre flop or on the flop when playing them strongly. If you insist on slowplaying them the % will be less than 80% as you will be playing them multiway. According to poker tracker i have an 85% strike rate with them which maybe luck or might be the fact that always bet the hell out of them lol.

http://gocee.com/poker/HE_Value.htm Title: Re: ACES Post by: Bongo on December 09, 2005, 02:23:15 PM I'm 94.59% over 37 pairs of aces from 7,428 hands.
Both times I lost was to pocket tens hitting a set... Last time I tried slow playing them I was involved in a crazy 5 way all in hand preflop, hands were: AA AA KK KQs J3o Somehow I won (well split with the other AA). Title: Re: ACES Post by: Nem on December 09, 2005, 02:24:23 PM Did Jd 3c win Bongo?
Title: Re: ACES Post by: Bongo on December 09, 2005, 02:35:06 PM They have higher EV than KK or KQs!
But this time they missed. Title: Re: ACES Post by: Nem on December 09, 2005, 02:38:20 PM Somehow, I didn't to read that you wrote AA and AA split the pot before posting... >:? >:? :o
Title: Re: ACES Post by: Pommy on December 09, 2005, 03:05:32 PM I very seldom push all-in with the rockets, and like some of the other posters have said, it would depend on the situation, and my read of the other players. I usually prefer to do a larger than standard raise (big enough to filter out the usual limpers) and see how the hand develops and the reactions of the others in the pot. I certainly don't get too attached to aces, and very rarely risk all my chips in this situation.
My tuppence for what it's worth.... Title: Re: ACES Post by: Highstack on December 09, 2005, 03:34:48 PM Just remember that 3 * 80% shots to hold up for you, reduces your winning ratio close to evens.
Therefore, the skill is in accumulating your chips first so that when you take the bad beats, you are only losing a % of your stack and not being eliminated. I have to say that I am diappointed as I thought this would be about Simon 'blowing his own' Trumper with some €uros for sale :D Title: Re: ACES Post by: Bongo on December 09, 2005, 05:10:28 PM Somehow, I didn't to read that you wrote AA and AA split the pot before posting... >:? >:? :o A quick, sneaky edit got that in... |
