Post by: Ironside on October 08, 2009, 08:52:07 PM
ok i have sky +  and 2 additional sky boxes in the house which my parents use

is there any product that they could use to record a program when they are out like sky + does?

rather than using a vcr or a dvd recorder

I am not sure mate, why not just get 2 more sky + boxes? they can be picked up and installed pretty cheap.

You will also need a octo lnb and an extra cable for each box for full recording facilities.

I doubt any non sky product would be able to change the channel of the sky box.

My JVC comes with a so called 'mouse', a little infra red emitter that you plug into the back of the recorder. You tell the machine what type of Sky Digibox you have. You're all set up.
You tell the calendar what program you want to record, and the channel. When the time comes, the 'mouse' transmits the signal to the digibox to switch to the appropriate channel.

Otherwise you can just use the Sky EPG 'Autoview' feature.
