Title: Sky TV Post by: Matt.NFFC. on October 10, 2009, 07:34:33 PM I used to have Sky telly a few years back and was considering going back to them, but after my wife had phoned up to enquire how much etc I felt like it was a right rip off.
Ok, all we want is a basic minimum package and Sky Sports. No phone, no internet, no HD nothing extra, just the Sky+ box and said channels. I was quoted something like £36 a month plus £30 installation and £50 for the box!!! FFS, I've already got the damn dish from before and all the dude would do is plug the box in! Is there anything I could do to get Sky cheaper? I can't even go to Virgin cos it aint down our street due to the miserable old feckers not wanting a bit of their garden being ripped up when laying the cables. Sky TV is better but for broadband Virgin is the nuts. I had Sky broadband for 1 year and it used to drop out often enough to be annoying. Not all the time but often enough. Virgin has not gone down once. (There's a joke there somewhere). You definitely get a lot more channels with Sky though including all the babestation type programs which are invaluable and probably offset the shite slow broadband. Title: Re: Sky TV Post by: G1BTW on October 12, 2009, 02:12:08 PM Quote You definitely get a lot more channels with Sky though including all the babestation type programs which are invaluable and probably offset the shite slow broadband. I love free porn I do. Yup. If the OP would ever not want to get televised Sky Sports and avoid a Sky subscription, you can still get all the free to air channels that Sky provide through your Sky Dish and Sky Digibox, without even talking to sky or setting up an account. Pref pick up a viewing card on ebay (£10) too as it helps with some channels (maybe Channel4 & 5 and others). Its Albanian Satellite, has loads of Live Premiership with English commentary on it and does not cost that much. A year viewing card is about £240, you would also need an 80cm+ dish and receiver. It had the England game live on it on Saturday. The signal comes from Eutelsat W2, 16 degrees east. IIRC - conditions are it can either be a new or existing Sky subscriber, but not existing HD subscriber (IE you can't use it to get a second HD box) and you must take the HD subscription (£10/m). Don't think there are any others, so you can go with the base £18+10/m, although you won't get many HD channels for that. Title: Re: Sky TV Post by: cdw1111 on November 05, 2009, 03:24:33 PM Yes please, thanks Rex
Title: Re: Sky TV Post by: rex008 on November 05, 2009, 03:28:47 PM Wow. Quick reply. I was just editing mine to add the conditions that I can remember.
Assuming you're ok with those, I'll PM you later. I think you need my name and address, but I'll assume you won't pass it on to Title: Re: Sky TV Post by: Dino on November 05, 2009, 03:31:51 PM IIRC - conditions are it can either be a new or existing Sky subscriber, but not existing HD subscriber (IE you can't use it to get a second HD box) and you must take the HD subscription (£10/m). Don't think there are any others, so you can go with the base £18+10/m, although you won't get many HD channels for that. Title: Re: Sky TV Post by: Eck on November 05, 2009, 06:22:01 PM not looked closely at what you are getting but if they are introduce a friend offers for customers they won't be as good as the staff offers probably. Not seen them come out but willl be along the lines of 1/2 price package for a year + free hd box + free hd subs i am led to believe. will post it up when it goes live.
Title: Re: Sky TV Post by: rex008 on November 05, 2009, 09:10:50 PM It's a free box and free installation. Which is £50 cheaper than I paid 6 months ago. And existing non-HD Sky customers can use it, which is also better than most offers Sky puts out there, which are often for brand new customers only.
Title: Re: Sky TV Post by: Eck on November 09, 2009, 01:39:54 PM Staff offer is:

Title: Re: Sky TV Post by: henrik777 on November 09, 2009, 02:18:09 PM If you have sky and upgrade to hd do you qualify ? Seems not but if you do i'd be interested if anyone has a spare invite.
