You know how everyone has random questions that pop into their heads and they need an answer ... well lets start a thread where we can all try and answer them. I will start with... News of the world costs £1 Sun costs 30p How much of the cover price does the newsagent get ? I know that newspapers are a "Sale or return" item ... but how much do the shops make from each copy ? Title: Re: Questions .... Post by: Claw75 on October 12, 2009, 12:27:55 PM Don't know. give us an easy one.

Post by: Claw75 on October 12, 2009, 12:40:00 PM There are loads of things I don't understand. I take the view that ignorance is bliss (or my head would explode trying to understand)
Title: Re: Questions .... Post by: Josedinho on October 12, 2009, 01:27:54 PM When i worked in a paper shop i was told that they earnt next to nothing on a weekly paper but it got people through the door. Weekend papers with all the extra inserts are better money makers.
Title: Re: Questions .... Post by: EvilPie on October 12, 2009, 01:38:05 PM I've never seen a newsagent with a Bentley so I'd guess it's not a lot.
Title: Re: Questions .... Post by: Dino on October 12, 2009, 01:42:48 PM Without digging out some paperwork the Sun and News of the World both have a profit of about 8p. They are not full sale or return, only a percentage may be returned, how big a percentage depends on your relationship with the wholesaler.

Also, if you are on a blind date and you suspect the date may not originally have been the gender they stated on the form, how do you tell for sure/bring this up politely? Thanks in advance. ps F U 'Charlene' Title: Re: Questions .... I'm not sure that the discovery of water in outerspace is as important as showing a peaceful approach to the aliens.
Apart from trespassing on their planets and taking pictures, now we're bombing them - how good an impression are we making, as they watch us with their telescopes, and we bomb their homes? It's not as if we even have a whiff of a WMD. Title: Re: Questions .... Post by: Claw75 on October 12, 2009, 03:26:48 PM something occurred to me earlier today, but it's not suitable for the thread. i'll ask kev on msn later ;D

Scientists are trying to show that the moon is made of cheese and they developing WMDs (Weapons of Mice Distraction). I read a really nice book once, called 'Cosmology' by Harrison http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/0521229812/ref=ed_oe_h_olp (cheaper old version) and he goes on at length about intelligent alien life forms (ldo, there are billions of em) and he argues to a conclusion (based around natural selection etc) that almost all of them would be hostile to humans and would seek our destruction given the chance. In fact he suggests that it's so likely that they already know we're here, and are hostile to us, that there's a possibility there are devices in place to wipe us out whenever they get round to it. And this is from a *really* well-respected cosmologist. Post by: Josedinho on October 16, 2009, 11:19:26 PM Dutch mayo is dodgy on it's own. It doesn't need to be mixed with ketchup and given a funky name.
